I happen to have one of those fancy water pillows (you know the regular pillow with a mini water bed in it). Not a big fan, but when it is hot hot hot, stick it in the freezer and it is your best friend at night. I too, suffer from an apartment that retains the heat long after the outdoors has cooled (great in the winter) so I stick my fans in the windows and that works wonderfully. great post, the responses have been mighty useful. 8 Tips For A Cool Night's Sleep (Without the AC!) |

I have a beautiful dish set from my Mum, when one of the items gets chipped it is an immediate issue. What I do it paint over the chip with some nail polish (yes , yes formaldehyde free etc etc) that matches the sets' colour perfectly. Seals against bacteria, and I carry on. I know cat screen exist, but they are a bit rich for my blood (and pocket book). I have also used chicken wire AND was able to retro-fit it to our existing screen door. Looks a little country, but hey I AM a lil' country. And I love it! A Cat-Proof Screen Door Update! |

wow! This actually saves a lot more space than I thought it would. I don't know what Heidi's problem is, but I had never even considered using my own vacuum to "vacuum pack" my linens as a possibility before reading this post. I appreciate that it is a simple fix, with things I already own, and by using a rubber band I can even re-use the bag next winter! Seal the Deal: How To Save Space With A Vacuum |
