This is actually kokedama and it's kinda like bonsai in that the plant will stay small. Pretty sure this holds up for a few years with care. http://www.rm-collectibles.com/Kokedama.htm

I love those hanging planters but 70-90 dollars? It looks like someone cut a water/soda bottle on an angle, painted it and added some wire to hang it. I'm unsure why it would cost almost a 100 dollars for such a thing.

""anyone got any 4-1-1 on those fantastic sofas!???"

Considering, as mentioned and linked in the post, that it's a photo for an Australian furniture manufacturer...."

Bepsf,

I followed the link and it's actually a wood flooring manufacturer and not a furniture manufacturer so there's no information on the sofas to be found in the inaccurate original post.

That's a sea slater or aka a sea roach. It's a crustacean and not an insect. They are completely disgusting and it's really, really weird to put it in a glass jar as a memento of the beach.

Very cool but "awestruck for hours" seems like a bit much.

I did this with an old picnic basket I found in my garage about a week ago. Plopped a blanket in and propped up the lid. The cat loves it and it's adorable and took oh, I'd say, two minutes. I have an extra one I can send if anyone wants to give me 30 bucks (20 dollar discount for no legs or casters in case you are really put out by not being able to roll your cat's suitcase bed around).

I recently discovered the show "Hoarders" on A&E/online and nothing has motivated me to clean more than that. I'll pause it about half way and freak out and organize the pantry or something like that.

@ aychihuahua - I'm from South Texas and we do not always put chorizo in the migas! I actually prefer it without.

It's kind of funny to read "I never would have thought of Salsa on eggs!" That's pretty much the only way I'd eat scrambled eggs.

But I have to say, I don't think adding salsa to eggs really counts as migas. It's a short cut but the better way, I think is to have the tomatoes, jalapenos, onions and cilantro are generally freshly diced and then lightly sauteed before adding the egg to the pan.

Definitely hire independent over something like merry maids and I agree about suggesting reading Nickle and Dimed.

I wanted to just add that I've had some friends and relatives who worked as as cleaners and they have some really heartbreaking stories about how they were mistreated in other people's homes. A friend told me about how she was scrubbing a bathtub when the man she was hired by came in with his wife and said "Look what I got you! Happy Birthday, honey!" as if she was an object to be bought and sold - she said she finished the job and cried all the way home and never went back. Another thing that happens is they began overloading her with more and more tasks but did not compensate her for the extra work they expected her to do. So basically, please be conscious of how you are treating people you have hired to do your dirty work as they are PEOPLE.

I was wondering the same thing, how does this soften your clothes? Also, lavender is awfully expensive and from my experience loses it's fragrance quite quickly. it seems like you would have to be buying boatloads of it if you were going to be throwing it in a dryer.

Baking soda and water in a crock pot with the lid off and on low for a few hours REALLY works. My house retains food smells like crazy and I use this trick all the time.

I love these, the extra wide brush really gets everything clean and it's true that they last for an extra long time. I clean mine in some hydrogen peroxide and it looks and performs great even after about a year!

It's licensed and cheap, not "lisenced" and "cheep". Methinks you ought to study basic typing and grammar skills rather than reading so much about chair designers.

Perhaps people who live in glass houses, albeit, a FLW house, should not throw stones.

I've been using a tea tree oil mix in a spray bottle as an all purpose cleaner and even air freshener and I am really happy with it.

How much of that $65 does the cleaning person/s earn? Hiring a maid service seems so utterly bourgeois and classist.

I tried this a few months ago and it SORT of worked... but it's true, it gave off horrible chemical burning plastic death fumes.
