Funny, I just went through a home renovation & thought the lath looked really cool exposed...but it's VERY dirty.

Even multiple passes with the shop-vac didn't make much of a dent. The amount of dust only abated when I put drywall back up.

And the gas/water/electric lines to the oven(s) and fridge? Sounds like a PITA.

Besides that - if you have a gas stove, that isn't affected by the power being out. A box of matches solves the ignition problem!

I'm in the FAAAR north 'burbs (practically WI) & I have to drive everywhere. While my commute to work is just under 1/2 hr, in light traffic, I'm considering a move to Evanston. My commute would be longer, but by train instead of driving. As it is now, getting anywhere - coffee shop, gas station, grocery, is at least a half-hour round trip & that feels rather isolating.

This is kind of nit-picky, but is comparing a concentrated cleaner (like Dawn direct foam) against a non-concentrated soap fair?

They say they use a teaspoon of each, but the teaspoon of concentrated cleaner was probably supposed to have done 3 or 4 times the dishes...and probably costs 3-4x as much for that amount. (yep, i'm a research analyst)

You may already know this, but you may be able to save the tree; they can be righted (may need to lop some volume off the top) so long as the roots aren't too damaged. My family went through a hurricane & I hadn't realized you could just prop a tree back up!

If you're happy with the color, you might just try giving it a really good cleaning - it's amazing how much dirt hides in the texture.

I think the idea is cool, but it looks cluttered before you even add your own!

My Mom is a master gardener and she uses those.

She says the key to watering is to wait until the soil dries out a bit-if it's always damp, it can rot in the roots - and tells me to put the plants in the shower & hose them for a few minutes, then let them drain adequately. I've killed a cactus before, so this has kept other plants from suffering the same fate.

Toilet carpet or whatever you call the seat cover, tank top, and wrap-around rug that some people put on or around their toilets. It just seems like a disgusting breeding ground for germs.
