Domino Mag (oh how I miss Domino...) had a great Fall Grilled Cheese party article a few years ago and we've been throwing one every year since! It's really easy and who doesn't love grilled cheese? From Domino: Pumpernickle, Cheddar, Mango Chutney Farmhouse white bread, Smoked Mozz, Basil, Prosciutto (I make a few non-porky sammys for my veggie fiance) Baguette, Brie, Granny Smith Apples Whole Wheat, Blue Cheese, Walnut, Honey Serve with hard ciders and a big serve yourself pot of tomato soup! As a very non-geek (I never even took physics... he's a physicist al la the movie REAL GENIUS... which is in fact the only way I can explain what he does to other non-geeks) I have to say I’ve actually started to get into some of my fiance's geekisms (I even made a "Pi" themed dinner for Pi Day!) and I think I’m much better for it. And I've found that when I'm stressed with work and can't sleep, asking him to tell me about a paper he working on is is stronger than AMBIEN, which he knows and gladly lulls me to sleep. I've actually been to the gallery and the best pieces aren't even shown here!! The prices might be high if you are thinking about the actual materials but it's a creativity, time, and passion of the artist you are paying for... and in my case I always think I'm going to make some craft and it ends of half done and then I always wish I just bought the original piece I was inspired by. Non-buyers remorse. Anyway, the day after the opening they had a four hour workshop with some of the artists for only $40 a person, materials included!!! I agree with Mrs.Mack! They would be great to hide some of our piles and piles of papers/old bills/statements that never have a good place in our shoebox apartment.... imagine the piles of cords I could get out of those tupperware containers!
