With the first shot of that brilliant blue door, I knew I was going to love everything about this house, and I do. Thank you for sharing it.

Based on a number of years with a curtain divider between a den and the kitchen, and also with curtains on a very tall, very wide set of sliding doors in the living room, I'd go with (1) a substantial, heavy fabric (the muslin IKEA tab top curtains were not a happy choice - they become rather sad and droopy pretty quickly, and won't slide easily on a rod when you're pulling them standing on the floor) and (2) curtains that have grommets the rod goes through rather than clips (again, after a while the clip-on rings tend not to slide easily on the rod and yanking them over time makes the clips separate from the rings, requiring a trip up the step ladder to fix them or having to take the whole contraption down to get to the rings). And, of course, make sure the fabric of the curtains doesn't have a right and a wrong side, and that the curtains are at least twice the width of the opening - preferably 2 1/2 or three times the opening, so they look full and not stingy when they're closed.

Yes, the herringbone floor. In fact, all the floors. The moldings. The door hardware. The pipes in the ceiling. The insanely huge windows and high ceilings. The children's room the size of a playground. Amazing space.

The fridge is cute enough, but those birds over the top of the door knock me out.

Wow, surfjack, if you can't re-cover something a camel threw up on, what the hell can you re-cover? Really nice job on the chairs. Neither the wood nor the fabric was worth saving - they looked like depressing chairs from your grandmother's house that either smelled musty or like years of smoke.

Since "curate" does not mean to edited or carefully select, and that is almost always how it is used in AT, then yes, please, let's lose it. Let's lose it just because it's overused. Let's lose it because it always was just pretentious.

The asymmetrical displays in this house are really interesting, especially the living room mantle.

Yikes. Checking out her blog, Reeves is an 18-year-old college student who started this blog her senior year in high school to document some of her projects. I can't imagine what she'll come up with by graduation! Congrats, this project is gorgeous.

@kiacook, usually you need curtains 2 to 2.5 times the width of the window to look full enough when they're closed - so wider curtains if you're making them or two panels per side if you're buying them.

Perfection. If I didn't have my Sunday afternoons with my friend of 27 years in her craft room (yes, she bought a house with an extra bedroom so she would have a craft room) for quilting, crafting and snacking - with occasionally forays to flea markets and fabric stores - my life would be so much poorer.

My vote is for either of the aquas or the chartreuse. I love the fabric on your pillow. I agree both that you don't need more wood tones and that it would be impossible to make them match. Adding some more of whatever color you pick (lamps, throw, frames, whatever) would help offset all that off-white too.
