I am on day 8 and this week have to admit that I didn't make an effort to get some of the amounts of things that it required and have made a few modifications but am still following it pretty much as written. The meals have been great (I am a bit addicted to the salt shaker but haven't used it at all during this time as the food really is good) but I will admit that not enjoying the breakfasts so much as I am not a hot cereal eater. I will certainly be taking some of the changes that I have made these last 8 days forward because I actually do feel not so much better but healthier for sure.

I am the minimalist when making stuffing - bread, sage, pepper and salt and melted butter. It is so good. The secret is to cook it by itself so that it doesn't get mushy in the bird. It is the dressing my grandmum made and it is the dressing my mum makes and if I were to serve anything I would be in trouble. Thankfully I love it.

Fennel - I am not a fan of licorice and to me that was all that I thought fennel tasted like. Then last summer I braised some and what a shock that it was a lovely sweet flavour. Then I went really crazy and ate it raw in a salad and was even more shocked to find out it was quite good. I think I have eaten more fennel in the last 6 months than in my entire life.

Thanks for the suggestions on the brussel sprouts. I like the idea that bacon will make anything taste better. Will give it a try.

Brussel Sprouts - I dislike them. But have been over the years trying to find a recipe that will make them taste good. Everyone is always like just try them this way. I keep trying but no luck so far. And spaghetti squash - every time I have cooked it, it turns into this mushy baby food looking mess. I have a hard enough time trying to cut the silly thing in half and then all that works seems to be for naught as it never turns out well.

I also do the freeze the meat and bring it as it keeps it cold and then by the time I need to use it, it is thawed. Lately I have started to freeze the meat with a marinade so that as it thaws it also marinates.

I enjoyed this cake a lot - I had just read Lunch in Paris and this recipe was in there. Made if for my mum's birthday and she enjoyed it immensely.

I cut up pears, put a bit of the cheese on the pear and then wrap with prosciutto and then bake in the oven for 15 mins.

As I make popcorn in a pot anyways, when we want a lot for a movie night or kids are over, I always pull out the wok. We also use this when camping as it is easier to use without burning your hands off. We have an old wok that my husband has affixed a long handle to and it works perfectly (just need a grill over the open flames and constantly move the wok around).

Cheese Whiz and white bread. I also love Kraft Dinner (I think in the US you would call this macaroni and cheese - it is in a blue box. In Canada it is known as Kraft Dinner or KD)

I am all about the clean oven button - the days of spraying on that nasty spray and scrubbing are long gone. I clean mine about every 2 months but that is more about me being clumsy and spilling stuff in the over all the time
