Mostly we need to make sure we are teaching our sons and daughters the basics of taking care of themselves, their dwelling, their money, etc. so they will not be dependent on the willingness of others

Home Ec.: What is Your Housework Worth?

When I was going to grad school full-time and working 3 part-time jobs, I stopped doing most of the household stuff (except laundry and bill-paying), because I simply didn't have time and I needed my "free" time for sleeping. For example, I stopped doing any grocery-shopping and meal preparation, and sometimes if you stop doing something, someone else will start doing it (in this case because my husband was hungry). Now that I have finished school, cooking and shopping have remained my husband's job. He has enough time and he proved he was quite capable, and I love everything he cooks.

It is simply bad manners to require that people take off their shoes for your party (or to put a warning about it on the invitation). As a host, your household maintenance issues are not the focus of the party. Be gracious, or don't entertain.Taking off shoes should be a voluntary preference, which you may encourage, but not require or even comment on. There are germs everywhere, yet we still shake hands, hug, visit, and share our lives. Stop fussing and learn how to enjoy your friends' company.

It is actually pretty difficult to get bandanas in this many different designs.

With that many rivets, it's more rivets-as-decoration than it is exposed-rivets-that-are part-of-the-construction

Don't worry about how your place looks. If he is just moving in after a long distance relationship, you will mostly be having sex, and so decorating, drawer space, cooking, etc, will be the last things on your minds. So what if he is living out of boxes for a few months..if you will be moving soon this will save time, in fact you might as well start putting your stuff in boxes, too. More important than the apartment is how well you actually get along once you are together.

We have a modern house built in 1960. One bathroom is ALL pink: huge pink toilet, huge pink pedestal sink, pink wall tile, pink and gray floor tile. So the walls will be a light gray and the curtains a gray and white geometric. The other bathroom has floor and wall tile that are odd shades of green, teal and blue--almost colors you can hardly name. So the walls are a minty pastel green and the curtains made from an old tablecloth. Don't fight the colors, go with what is established, maybe a shade lighter or darker or similiar, but adding plain white to color palettes like these is too harsh.

Bohemian living is not something you can create by imitating a "style". It is derived from making due with very little, and being attracted to the creative part of life. A Bohemian would not usually be worried about dust as suggested above, being too busy pursuing other things. And of course a Bohemian bookshelf is not carefully arranged because the books are read, and are appreciated for their content, not thought of as props or accessories. I don't think Bohemian is something to try and fake.
