There is no problem with it. If there are better things to do, like play with other kids, then we don't give her the iPhone, but in a restaurant when she is over it and I still want to eat and talk to my husband it is perfect distraction. It is the ideal toy for long plane rides! This is more mommy-wars hate mongering. And plus, we're not Amish. Why make a big deal about depriving the technology of the moment from our kids? I think it looks great. The presentation is pretty and the ingredients look beautiful. I don't think the sauce layer to that thick, it has just settled down the edge of the dish. This could be a much longer post because there are a lot of issues contributing to this that are all intersecting now in this great-rescission, post-post-9/11 era. I would love to know if the trend toward sophistication is a return to "old-timey" values as we enter a new economic age with struggles that many new parents have never seen before. While the kiddie phase is fun, it is fleeting. It doesn't make sense to start baby in a space that will only work for a decade. Who has the money and desire to start from scratch every few years? Also, more sophisticated rooms are more serene as so much of kid oriented "design" is loud on the verge of garish- the preference of the adults in the home to have a unified, calm refuge away from the cold cruel world is more important now than ever. Third, parents now have "permission" to not make everything 100% about the kid. I think we are starting to find a balance between kids' needs and parents' wants. In the last decade it was pretty en-vouge in the US for writers to come up with cheeky books about it being ok for adults to do adult stuff even if they have little kids. This being born after a few decades of total kid-centric family life being seen as the norm. It is okay for a parent veto his kid's want to plaster his room with licensed cartoon character images.
