When I first looked at it, I thought it was a potty. Ooops.

I would love to learn more about how he got this look . . . and see more photos. It is really hard to keep a roof space looking so lush, and this many plants must be kind of expensive. How does he do it?

Planters are so hard to find. Thanks for these suggestions. I'm trying to create a coordinate set of vintage planters for my study and it's been hard work!

I am currently renovating my kitchen in my new Brooklyn apartment. The help from our architect is invaluable. I can't imagine doing another renovation without that kind of expert help.

The first kitchen I re-did, I did it without an architect. The contractor made errors and took short cuts, but I couldn't control him on my help. I'm loving having their expert advice.

Keep in mind when you first get a stainless steel sink, each scratch will fell scary, but after you get your stainless steel sink scratched up enough, the scratches won't show. That's the beauty of them I think. I wouldn't worry about the scratches!

After living with an undermount in my last apartment, I really miss it. Undermount makes clean up so much easier.

Thanks for posting this and hang in there with their move.

I sold the first apartment I bought in August. Even though I was going to a much better spot that was a better fit for my life today, it was emotional and sad to leave a place I had lived for so long. That place had been such a source of comfort and strength for me.

I love reading on my Kindle. Reading with the backlight on my iPad or iPhone hurts my eyes after a while. It is fine for a few pages, but for a nice long relaxing read, the Kindle is just far better. Since you mention the pros of the backlight in this post, you might want to add the cons too.

The WSJ article says that Sophie isn't toxic: "Sophie hasn't been immune to doubts about safety. In December, right before the holiday rush, French consumer advocacy group UFC-Que Choisir published a report accusing Sophie of containing toxins. Mr. Jacquemier said the naturally occurring toxins in rubber, which have only become detectable recently thanks to new technology, are way below the safety standards the European Union will put in place next year.

But Mr. Jacquemier says he isn't unwilling to consider new ways to make Sophie safer. Sophie products "must be irreproachable."

So interesting! I never even noticed this before. Now I have something new to look for.

Ready for my peeve? I can't take faucets that have the sprayer integrated into the faucet and the sprayer bit hangs down from the faucet a little bit.

These photos are so interesting. The first one is my favorite. It's fascinating that the government would use decor and decorators to help Americans get comfortable with the idea of nuclear war.

So interesting that you have a John Boos counter in such a modern space. Do you have a photo at another angle to show the top of the counter?

The recession is so ovuh. At least on this show!

I love how out and proud they all are -- so far at least. Honey, nearly everyone on his show is gay.

And you didn't even mention the shower scene with the blond South African model. Who is that guy?

P.S. I keep trying to get sedum to grow as a spiller in some of my drough-tolerant pots. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but it gets leggy and tends to die.

I have purple sweet potato vines spilling out of one of the containers in my roof garden. Last year, my green sweet potato vine hardly grew at all -- I was wondering if it was because it couldn't take that much intense heat? Anyway, this purple one seems to be doing much better. And today I was surprised to see it had some nice flowers on it too.

I have a container of roses planted with lavender and a few other herbs. I was inspired by some photos I saw of herbs and roses planted together. The lavender is not very full or pretty at the bottom so the lower growing herbs cover that up a bit, while the tall purple flowers shoot out of the top of the pot. I think there might also be benefits of the herbs keeping pests away from the roses, but I'm not sure.
