oh and yes, costplus world market has the cheapest but they are EXTREMELY see-thru. They are more to just filter sun and offer zero privacy.

I found home depot to have the least expensive bamboo blinds. If they are not the right size I buy a slightly larger size and just trim a bit off of each side to make fit (i have tried a few things for trimming. A small hack saw, a dremel tool and even a pair of pruning sheers worked well)

just be careful of those clip on lamps. I caught my bedroom on fire as a child when it fell of the headboard and got hot enough to ignite my pillow!

I try and avoid a lot of processed food but on more than one occasion I have found myself at the airport famished and bored and thankful for a potato chip or oreo that "just happens" to be vegan. If I'm out to impress my non-vegan friends on how amazing vegan food can be however I am more likely to whip up my own treats such as the vegan chocolate mousse recipe from here which is fail-proof and always a huge hit. http://www.scribd.com/doc/327358/Vegetarian-Starter-Kit

as a kid i actually caught my bedroom on fire from fabric getting too close to a light bulb. i really think this post should come down. I have had great luck finding 2nd hand fixtures at my local habitat store (a little clean up, perhaps a shot of spray paint and you are good to go) and doing the wiring for a simple overhead light is not hard ... a tutorial on wiring an overhead light would be a more responsible post.

a tree planted in front of the house to the right of the window would be a nice addition to your yard and would help 'hide' the part of the roof line that you don't like.

Daiya cheese shreds are great and they just came out with a new cheese 'block' version. Many of our local restaurants are starting to use it as well ... so nice to be able to order a vegan pizza now!

Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force the animals to continue giving milk, factory farm operators typically impregnate them using artificial insemination every year. Calves are generally taken from their mothers within a day of being born—males are destined for veal crates or barren lots where they will be fattened for beef, and females are sentenced to the same fate as their mothers.

The good news is that removing dairy products from your diet is easier than ever. Today there is a multitude of nondairy "dairy" products on the market, such as soy, rice, coconut and almond milk.

i share a dining space and work space as well. I found a really cute vintage suitcase that holds all of my work stuff. (it even has a pocket on the inside that holds files neatly) at the end of the day i simply close the suitcase.

i agree with Kaycee on painting cabinets and new hardware. They even make a peel and stick tile that you can grout between so it really does look like real tile. And they say large tile makes a small space actually feel roomier so i would be tempted to go for one of the larger rectangle shaped tiles. If you need to store stuff on top of fridge maybe get some nice baskets or antique wood crates to hide the contents. (and take all of those magnets etc. off the fridge. It makes it look cluttered/messy) Your back splash area is so small you could probably do a nice glass tile there yourself for next to nothing. I would also put a nice mirror on that back wall to give the illusion of more space. Maybe a new trashcan if it has to stay out and some cute ceramic cat/dog food bowls.

i put a small light on a timer to turn on 30 minutes before I need to wake up. That way when my alarm goes off it isn't pitch black in my room and makes getting out of bed MUCH easier. I also put one on my living room lamp so when i walk out to make my tea I am also greeted by some light instead of darkness.
