She is my favorite designer. I like how she uses used and antique furniture and makes it new again with finishes and upholstery. Yes, she is one of the few designers worth watching on HGTV.

Those drawers (both before & after) look like the clothes would come out good and wrinkled. Always needing ironing before being presentable. My method is to either hang the t-shirt or only give it one fold down its middle. The less compacted folding, the less wrinkles. Devote one drawer to shirts all folded only once in half and your shirts will be waaaay more presentable. I hang mine color coded and my husband's folded only once in the middle.

I bought a beige leather sectional sofa. The two ends could flip out to recliners. I regretted almost immediately the purchase of this sectional because it ate up the landscape in the room. It was poufy and my feet did not touch the ground when I sat on it. Even though my living room, dining room and kitchen are one big open space, I felt as though the sectional was two giant elephants blocking up the free flow of the room. So now I have a three seater sofa, rocking chair and two Lazyboy recliners and the room arrangement is way more flexible than having that sectional in there.

Looks great but.....dangerous for kids. Open stairways? Low-barrier lofty balconies? Finger-pinching dining room chairs (probably not comfortable chairs either)? Could name other not so child friendly stuff but don't want to digress. Oh, yes, those stair treads that serve as storage could also be a neck breaker if the lids were left open by error. I'm just the type that walks through a space and automatically pick out what could happen to kids in such a space.

There is a wonderful flea market in Raleigh NC each Saturday and Sunday. It's indoors as well as outdoor. I've always enjoyed that one and there are a lot of antiques and used items for reasonable prices.

I'm for not giving the TV such a place of prominence. If at all possible I would hide the darn thing and only bring it out on occasion.

Never could figure out why IKEA picks their locations. Here in North Carolina they picked Charlotte as their spot. Raleigh would have been a better and more central location as it's the capital and also has more universities and businesses. Charlotte is a sinking ship. Wishing IKEA would relocate to Raleigh, I'd be there every day.

I once lived in a 4 bedroom & bonus room over garage kind of house (2600 sq.ft. We had formal dining room and formal living room which we never used. Now we live in a 3 bedroom (1600 sq ft.) and we use all the rooms. Our one room living room/kitchen/eating area is the space we spend the most time in. I take care of my grandchildren and having one main living area like that makes it easy for me to see where the kids are at all times. Small house, but have big yard. Love it.

Yes, this is the best house tour so far on Apartment Therapy. I would like to see more international house tours. I like decorating ideas from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Germany as well as much from Dutch folks.

Why would anyone paint over Danish modern teakwood furniture? I think the piece is ruined.

No pets or food in our bedroom. When our kids were little we allowed them to play in our bedroom but they were never allowed to sleep in our bed. If they came to the bedside during the night, we tended to what they needed but escorted them back to their own rooms. Bedrooms are for sleep and privacy.

Love those little spoon-printed curtains above the kitchen sink in the kitchen. I hope those leaning and large framed mirrors and glass windowed doors are actually attached somehow to the wall as I could see that being very dangerous with small children around. All around, though, this home is very cozy.

I painted our bedroom a deep dark blue. As a night shift worker and a daytime sleeper, I think the room is wonderfully dark with drapes closed during the day. At other times the room looks bigger with all the velvety dark blue. It looks crisp with white on the trim and fluffy white bedding. Dark blue, love it. I chose VanDeusen Blue by Benjamore Moore.

I think unfinished, non-sealed plywood is a very unhealthy item to have in a home. Think of the release of all that formaldehyde that out-gases from the plywood. The place also has the look of a monastery or convent with very little to look at that would stimulate.

I have had a cat and now have a dog. Neither one would I let sleep in our bed. Cats walk through kitty litter so their feet are not the cleanest. Dogs, as well, have their own kind of dirt picked up from being outside. Nope, my bed stays clean of animal dander. When my children were little they were allowed to play a good amount in our bed but NEVER allowed to sleep there. Neither animals or kids will ruin my marital bed time. I don't believe it hurts them.

I would not keep matches and candles or for that matter, lit scented candles in the bathroom. My 5 year old nephew got fascinated with a lit scented candle in a bathroom. He took a few tissues out of the tissue box and decided to wave these near the lit candle. Of course, a huge flame ensued and in his fright he shook the flaming tissues about. Good thing he screamed as well as that drew the attention of adults. It doesn't take long to burn a room or whole apartment to cinders. I'd much rather leave a can of air freshener around.

I like this idea. I once covered a very old fridge with wood grained contact paper. It was hard to do as the fridge had rounded corners. The method shown above is way simpler.
