I do a variation on the same thing. I use the upturned tops of wooden boxes a trays. This provide a lid so the assorted jars will not fall and break. I use interesting and unique shot glasses for qtips, bobby pins, tweezers and other similarly shaped items. My father travels alot so I ask him to bring me a small container from each of his destinations to house the rest of the items. I may be a little late chiming in but I say paint it whatever colour you like and do a nice mosaic or glass tile on the top shelf in complimentary colours. Apartment Therapy - Good Questions: Should I Paint, Tile, or Add Stick-On Veneers to This Desk? |

I'm for the low bookcase idea running the length of the desk / desk filing cabinet. If you can only find a bookcase to run the length of the desk and /or don't want to move the filing cabinet - ditch it, get a nicer one (ie red metal) and turn it around to face the room and show it off. I hate hate hate laundromats. In Toronto, it is relatively easy to rent a condo or new rental building with in suite washer and dryer. There's nothing better than to be able to multi-task (ie laundry&cooking, laundry&housecleaning, laundry&hairwashing, laundry&running out to run errands). My old building had a common laundromat for the residents and someone would constantly steal my underwear (hope you're enjoying the thongs, loser). More importantly, my best linens would always "disappear". Down with laundromats! AT Survey: How Do You Wash Your Duds? |
