Can a girl use dark colors without it being too masculine? Absolutely. This is one of my favorite looks right now. My bedroom is a dark brown, the paint chip was called java float. Many of my accessories are feminine and what I love about it is the balance it creates. If my room was pink or even white, it would be way too girly for me. My design still is a mix of both masculine and feminine and I think that's what makes it work.

I totally expected to see a coat of paint slapped on that dresser. Refinishing furniture takes a lot of time and effort. It's been done beautifully.

Leave the top as is and paint only the base and legs. Turquoise or teal would be my color choice. Not too bright, toned down with a little brown or gray in it.

That color is hot right now! I love it for a nursery. You can use any color with it. Pick your favorite color or choose bedding/curtains and pull a color from the fabric. I have a friend who is doing a navy and coral nursery.
