Yes Ellen you're right, it's a copy of a Picasso. As a kid I loved art and took a whole bunch of drawing classes. Over the years I had several drawing teachers give the assignment to turn this Picasso drawing upside down and try to redraw it. Having the Picasso be upside down when you're trying to copy it forces you to really focus on the lines in relationship to each other, rather than as preconceived shapes (such as that heads are circles). It's fun because when the student is done and turns his/her own drawing right side up, they normally find that it's quite an accurate copy of the Picasso, much better than they thought they were capable of. The black and white striped sofa is the Ikea Ektorp. I just did a search and realized Ikea doesn't make this exact cover anymore (I got it in 2009).
