its far, far nicer than my place but I could never get my mind around the computer workstation in the closet. Surely they have a lavish office somewhere else.

WWII had similar ideas. The Victory Garden and a fascinating mail system called V-Mail. I think you can still request seed packs from civil defense or your agricultural board and they will supply them free.

If you are listening to vinyl then yeah, the preamp gets really hot. Can use it to heat the house in the winter.

Wood absorbs bacteria and kills it? That doesn't sound right to me.

Dear Troll,

I didn't say anything about AIDS, just that taking any old thing out of the garbage and keeping food or cups in it isn't always such a great idea. Take a look over the counter at your local post office and ask yourself if you would want to eat off that.

Seems that you would.

Thanks for the reply, its always nice to have infants in the comments.

I have always used wax paper for sandwiches, but for fruit and loose nuts that is a pretty good idea. Bags should be darker colors, they will get stained and appear unappetizing quickly. Kind of expensive too, maybe if they were insulated or padded to keep food from getting smashed...

Still interesting though.

Clever but probably unsanitary. There is no way to measure how many LICKED pieces of mail went through that box. I hope the cleaned it really well.

Making the best of it thats for sure, but minimalism can be more elegant than that. Books over the stove? Needs Polish.

I would not use that kettle for boiling water. Copper Kettles can be used for preparing maple syrup or confections but for everyday use - I would not recommend it. More than likely that was a teapot, lined with enamel, like the japanese iron teapots, but they are more for decoration. Putting it on the stove will ruin the lining and you will get lining flakes and rust in the water. Clean it and decorate with it, but don't use it to make food.

That's clever, but I could not imagine a more destructive way to store a book.
