I have one and use it a lot. The variety of attachments helps you replicate the blender, the stand mixer, the bread maker, the shredder, and the mandoline. Is it possible to live without it? Sure, but the speed and ease with which the food processor completes its tasks makes it a huge help in the kitchen. Do You For Reals Need a Food Processor? |

It's not fair to label one "bad" food CEREAL and another "good" food ALL-BRAN. All-Bran is a type of cereal. Are they trying to say that all other cereals other than All-Bran have the same glycemic index? Probably not, but that's the message from the chart. Make your terms more consistent, scientists! FWIW, Cook's Illustrated recommends Land O' Lakes unsalted, so that's what I usually buy. If I'm in an organic store, Cabot is a great substitute. What's the Best Brand of Butter for Baking? Good Questions |

I've made Panna Cotta several times since Faith launched her big campaign to make us love it, and it's been just as easy and just as delicious as she'd promised! My new favorite variety: substituting maple syrup for a bit of the sugar and dropping in some frozen blueberries prior to setting the custard. Yum! I teased Heidi Swanson's "Super Natural Every Day" because it has a specific section for lunch (in truth I was jealous because she works from home and can cook herself lunch every day) but some of those recipes might travel well. I don't usually comment on the Daily Finds, but I can attest to the excellent sound and classy look of this radio! I use it to listen to NPR and podcasts while I'm cooking, but the sound is so good that the programs can be heard all over the house if I want them to. Wonderful! Alison6971, I'm right there with you. I keep reminding myself that these lunches have been created by the sort of people who photograph their lunches. The rest of us get on without such fanfare. Pinterest Stays Sensible: 20 Well-Rounded and Perfectly-Packed Lunches |

The aesthetics don't bother me so much as the inefficient use of space does. This is the same reason that I hate single wall-mounted shelves in the kitchen. I use the same approach for adding body to my chili: red lentils! 1/3 cup cooks up in about 25 mins, thickens the broth, and virtually disappears. I use this technique for vegetarian and meat chilis alike. How To Make Chili Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |
