This is my fridge above. Thanks to AT for the feature!

Two things worth mentioning here…

*Not all removable wallpapers are created the same. Contact paper is a different animal all together. Just because something is “removable” doesn’t mean it’s appliance-friendly. If you really are considering this, find a low-tack and water-resistant paper. Standard removable adhesive could behave oddly when stuck on a machine that generates warmth for a long period of time. You will save a lot of time/money by picking the right paper in the first place.

* As someone who lived with an avocado fridge (and loved it! – as featured in my former AT house visit: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/peaches-wonderfully-whimsical-bungalow-house-tour-167994 ) I think it’s awesome when people see an appliance as something worthy of celebration – not just some giant machine that sits in the middle of the room. I would love to see more! Where are the painted washing machines and sharpie-fied toasters of this world?!

:)

This is easily the best post I have ever read on AT. Some of the best nuggets of information collected together on the internet. I'm printing it out and taping it to my fridge. And I will start enjoying those dirty dishes if it kills me!

Thank you :)

10 Simple Things to Make You
Happier At Home

AT doesn't feature the abodes of sexy crafty men with bird tattoos often enough. Let's have more of this!

Love this space. Love. Is it to New Agey to say it has great vibes? Probably. Just the same...it's hard to pin point a single element. Looks like the cumulative effort of years of thoughtful selections. Considerate. Comfortable.

The one time I got acupuncture the office was inside a former KFC hut from a guy who smelled like burning hair. Maybe now I will have to give it a second chance. If only I lived in LA. Sigh.

This is my apartment. Or it, at least it *was* until I moved.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone :) Must admit, I was a little worried my place would bring out some negative comments (this much muchness isn't for everyone, obv) but I am grinning ear to ear. I am so tickled to hear other people like what they see. It was a great little place and I'm feeling all nostalgic looking back at my old place.

CanadianMango -- Thanks! Actually, the ceiling light was made from plastic grocery bags (http://www.auntpeaches.com/2011/08/ruffled-jellyfish-explosion-aka-plastic.html)

TESS09 -- The Inigo Montoya portrait is an original oil painting from Bruce White, a very talented artist in the Chapel Hill area. I don't think he does the same portrait twice, but you could see about a private commission if you really want one. He has some gallery exhibits going on these days worth checking out -- lots of pop culture icons.

Thanks again everyone :)

I have never purchased canvas online, but I know I purchased a vanilla colored drop cloth from Home Depot that was HUGE, heavy duty, and washed like a dream. Held up on my couch for ages. Don't recall the maker but it was the priciest of the 2 or 3 brands they carried.

Best of luck!

You had me at "two headed duck."

WOW. WOW. WOW. I feel like Dixie's closet alone would make a terrific house tour.

Love the colors, the art, the vibrancy and love infused into every cranny. I collect portraits too -- these women are very impressive, although, some of them look a bit judgmental. Don't think I could handle Mrs. VanDerSnoof looking at me while I eat my sloppy cereal, but that is just me. Going by her interview, I don't think Dixie would give a rip. And her home shows it. Hot dog, this is cool!

THIS APARTMENT IS BOOTYLICIOUS. Easily, one of my favorite AT house tours ever. Love the color, love the character, love the cats, love the way it looks like it came out of a high end furniture catalog but still looks lived in. The art has so much to do with that (I have seen her paintings on Etsy before..going to check them out now). This apartment makes me want to be nicer to my house.

Meltdown Series by Tom Price

I had the same dilemma in a previous place and went with plexi --bad, bad, bad choice. It scratched easily, never looked clean, and the paper rippled from humidity the first time I boiled a pot of pasta (I did not glue it to the wall for fear of damage--my bad). Wish I had just glued it to the wall and glazed over. They make outdoor mod podge you know --you just have to thin it out with a bit of water first. Good luck!

Great idea. I have done similar with rubber cement and masking fluid --but this would be a whole different ballpark. Nifty stuff!

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.

I have been walking by that house for years and it makes me so happy. It's a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and has had such a positive impact on the surrounding block. I wish more homeowners had such chutzpah!

And, while Rogers Park might not be as visually eccentric as some other neighborhoods, it is well known for people who think independently and out of the box. Being different is a point of pride. It's a diverse, working class part of town where folks don't give a rip if the lawn is trimmed or the paint is peeling or the holiday lights are on in March --just don't litter or spit (I once saw an old Polish lady chase a gang banger down Paulina St. for spitting on her sidewalk!)

And, while I can't speak for them all, I think most RP residents appreciate the leopard house. I also think they would have a great laugh at the dozens of strangers getting together on the internet to poo-poo another man's home. Call it quirky or eccentric...what is the difference? NEWSFLASH: IT'S NOT YOUR HOUSE. Who are you to judge and criticize someone else for using their home as a form of expression? So what if you don't like leopard? You don't have to live in it. Huzzah!

Nobody asked me, but I will say it anyway: Good Taste is for the feeble. To each his own. Long live the leopard house!

These are under $10, large as you like, easy to customize, and look great if you are handy with double stick tape:
*Rasterbator (print a single image across a large grid of standard paper) http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/gallery.gas
*Paint chip art. Google around you will find oodles. I did one a while ago that came out nifty: http://www.auntpeaches.com/2010/09/paint-chip-art.html
*Book wall. http://www.auntpeaches.com/2011/01/thatched-paper-wall.html
*Record wall. Just raid your dirty uncle's closet or the local thrift store for enough records to COVER the entire wall. Tack them up with nails or earthquake wax (silly putty). I saw this in a bar once. Very dramatic http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qePYSh_XM3I/St27-at9xJI/AAAAAAAAAIM/BqaCervNNEo/s1600-h/Record+Wall.jpg

Good luck :)

How To Decorate Bare Bedroom Walls?
Good Questions

I air on the 'buy something that looks best when slightly wrinkled' concept...but if that doesn't work, I like to add a spoonful of cheap hair conditioner in the rinse cycle. I started swapping it for fabric softener bc my bf liked the smell so much...lo and behold, it softened wrinkles BIG TIME and made his shirts iron like butter. Love it. Just don't use on towels or they won't absorb anything.
