Oy! the farting! I second that!

But sweet, sweet dogs. I miss mine. She got too attached to my retired dad when i lived back at home for a year after grad school and I couldn't bear to tear them from each other. :(

I think its a great message worth spreading. I'm trying to get my family to see soda as a treat instead of a staple with meals. I want my 6 year old stepdaughter to see vegetables as things you eat to power your body.

However, we are not fighting obesity. Obesity is a symptom of the disease. I know many, many pencil thin people who live on soda, candy bars and chips. They have the same food "disease", but they are not showing the symptom of obesity.

I think when we focus on the symptom, too many people think "well i'm not nearly as fat as the people he's showing, so what i eat is fine". It's not. Jamie is right, that diet will shave years off your life, even if you never become overweight.

I don't particularly like doing the dishes, but i do realize that when a problem is nagging me, I manage to work out what i need to do about it over a sink full of sudsy water.

Plus the neat kitchen that results lifts my spirits.

For a long time now, i've just clipped out what i wanted to keep and used a glue stick to paste them into blank books. I've found if i tear out every third page of the blank book, they don't get too thick. I tried plastic sleeves, but my collection became too heavy and sometimes all i wanted was the small pic off of a large page. The blank books work wonderfully.

I got my boston terrier when in grad school and knew I'd not be able to have a constant schedule for her to be trained on. I had also had an elderly coworker who had a tiny dog that used a litter box on nasty rainy days.

So, I decided to try puppy pads (expensive in the long run). Then I tried her own litter box . . . she sure did enjoy doing donuts in it and covering my bathroom with litter. Then I went to a sheet of plastic with old towels. I pick up the poop daily and flush it (no worse than picking up outside or cleaning the cat box) and the towels get changed every 1-2 days and washed with bleach. The smell is mostly non-existent and less than the cat box.

If you decide to go out and look for "vintage" stuffed animals, please be careful as the really vintage ones were preserved using arsenic.
