"Thanks @PatInc I know one blog in particular was on top for a good while because my company, my contacts (other large companies in my industry) voted for them. Maybe other ways of confirmation should have gone out since AT didn't tell bloggers to have people/supporters (whether large or small quantities) to make sure they voted from different networks etc. I have a hard time believing that many votes are fake... They were several blogs that have said the same thing here. I respect the contest, it's why I had my entire team vote. But going forward, we hope things get resolved bc it seems like everyone rose fast but only few fell."

Pretty sure A.T got it right.
A few of the blogs that were in top place that lost a few hundred votes a few days ago only managed to gain back about 13 votes in a 48 hour period. If they were really that popular a blog they would have continued to gain a lot more votes in that time.
