I just moved into this cute little one bedroom rental house. It's perfect, except for that I am finding huge black ants by the kitchen sink. I wash my dishes and keep the area clean but I am still finding them. Don't know where they are coming from, they just pop up. I kill one and then I find anouther one, kill that one, then I see his friend. It's very annoying, just when I think I have taken care of the problem they come back. My next step is to see if the owner will hire an exterminator. :(

You obviously love her. I say keep her and reupholster. Give the old girl some new foam and fabric, she'll love it and thank you for it. :)

Haha! tracy, this Tracy agrees. It's both creepy and cool. Too creepy for me to display them in my home but cool enough I can admire in a museum or someone else's home. ;)

I am moving tomorrow and agree with the list wholeheartedly. It was great to get rid of things that I no longer use/wear/like. I donated so much and now I have room to purchase things that are more "me" now. I'm looking forward to "starting over" and having new experiences. I am trying not to think about how I had to dip into my savings to cover the moving costs or trying to find time to move out my stuff from my old place into the new place and then coming back to clean out the old place before the 1st. It will happen, or it won't either way come the 1st I will be ready for the new and can relax and enjoy the experience. :)

Haha! I really like how these people think who built the spite houses. That's funny. I would love to live in one. How unique and full of history with great stories attached. Would love a house tour of them.

Something easy and removeable - baskets! You can use the baskets to store items and still be decorative and pretty.

What Should I Do with Awkward Space above Fridge? Good Questions

I was going to say plants! With the natural light, a few plants will look good and do well on the shelves. I wouldn't buy any ol' stuff just to fill the shelves either. Decorative baskets to put items in might help it look less bare and be able to store the things you already have without making it look cluttered. I used to store odd and ends like tea light candles or cables I had in storage baskets on the shelves I had. That way they are stored, out of the way and yet pretty.

I'm going to have to find a way to give this article to my neighbor who does not have any rugs in her apartment (we have hardwood floors), who keeps her windows wide open, has nothing on her walls and she is the loudest little woman I have ever come in contact with. So annoying! I hear her walk around her place as if she is an elephant and when she has friends over I overhear conversations I wish I hadn't and didn't mean to. :/

I don't understand the comments about this being "not very masculine". The author doesn't say anything about the space being masculine. The owner is a male, but why does the place have to be "masculine" just because a male lives there. If the owner likes it then that is all that matters. I happen to be a female but my taste tend to lean toward the masculine myself.

I love the space myself. It's nice and calm and relaxing and cozy all at the same time. Love the owners origional furniture as well.
