Our son was two and a half when his sister was born. As soon as we got home from the hospital, we all sat on the sofa and he "held" her. I think it was love at first sight! We just made a big deal of how she was his baby too and we all neede to look after her together. Also, I made sure I put him to bed as usual that night - I agree, I think it's quite important to keep as much as possible the same for the older child. So far, so good - our daughter is 10 months old now!

Great! Our baby daughter was given one for Christmas and I haven't yet put it in her room. I agree though, they do look lovely and cosy in chldren's rooms.

We were given a bumbo seat as a hand-me-down and I didn't use it all that much apart from when I started weaning my little boy. It was then really useful to sit him in it on the dining table right in front of me - he was then upright and at a great height for me to get the spoon in his mouth. Also, don't see the point in top and tail bowls - just use a normal bowl!

Hmm, was thinking of going with pale apple green and apricot for my little girl. Now I'm thinking mustard and coral is the way forward - looks so lovely! Really like the quirky birdcages and the bird ornament on the table.

I hear you! We've just had our second child and I'm currently raking through my son's old clothes to see what's appropriate - he was May and our daughter is a girl (!), and November!

Our house is really poor for storage space, so I use these pretty but functional storage bags that are out on display in their bedrooms:

Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Tips For Organizing Baby Clothes

I recently made something for a friend's new baby that is similar to the butterfly picture. I used a teddy bear hole punch and used colours from the Farrow and Ball paint chip card, as this included the exact colour in which they had painted their nursery. Such a cheap and easy way of producing art work.

Love this - I'm going to scout some out! Forget my children's rooms - one of these would look great on our stair wall!

I have to agree with some of the comments above - I've thought about doing this with our fireplace before, but I just think our son would continuously take the wood out and play with it, resulting in everything (including him) getting dirty and picking up splinters. Maybe one for the future.

This is a great photo - makes me feel better about my house too! Also a bit of a coincidence as I posted a picture of my dining room today in all of its mess and glory (you can see it here - http://beautifulsquarefeet.blogspot.com/2011/08/final-big-push.html.

I really didn't have the time to tidy up before I took the picture and then I decided that I actually didn't want to!

Very cool bed! I also really like that storage unit, especially as I find that with Expedit etc., there's always a lot of unused space at the top of the shelves - great idea for overcoming this!

I love this room - what a good take on the child's name on the wall too. I love the fact that Sophie has chosen letters from different places rather than matching ones. May have to steal that idea for my little one!

Sold! I was in IKEA yesterday and saw these, but didn't buy one as I wondered if it would be comfortable enough for my son to sit on. Haven't started training him yet, but will begin in the next couple of months, so will definitely be getting a few of these now. Hope they have the white or blue one when I go back (they only had red or green). Thanks!

Now that is a brilliant idea! One to log for the future I think - most of my son's cars are wooden or plastic at the moment, but as soon as he's given a metal one, I know where it's going!
