When I was very young all we got to draw with were crayons. Later on we got pens, when we were old enough to understand that they were only to be used on paper/drawingbooks. I also suspect there was a period when colours were taken out when we wanted to paint and hidden away afterwards. Even though we had our own kids table I remember being scolded for drawing on it instead of on the paper and that one line is still there - hardly noticeable. Tips for Avoiding Drawn-On Furniture |

Like this a lot! That said, why have a child's tricyckle take up space? And why, why have portraits with people staring at you in bed? These are also next to the TV so I bet they draw attention from the screen. I just would not be able to relax when there are eyes (albeit painted) watching me. According to the law over here you may paint and wallpaper as long as it's done at a professional level and suited to "normal" tastes - ie not too crazy. I've painted several rooms in my apartment and managed to convince the landlord to put up new wallpaper (that I got to choose out of a catalogue) in one of the bedrooms. Depending on what the wood looks like a very easy way to go is to hire a spraypaint machine + scaffolding or ladders for a couple of hours. But be sure to cover up everything you don't want painted (including your own glasses)! How Do I Paint My High Cathedral Ceilings? Good Questions |

I don't see how hanging the curtains high and wide would hide the casings. Quite the opposite really. If you look at period homes they are meant to have curtains that hang close to the ceiling and wide enough that all the ornamentaion is visible when the curtains are open. They also had one of those overhangs (I don't know the proper terminology) so no wall would be visible above the window. Height to Hang Curtains in Old Victorian? Good Questions |
