i agree with shlowzi, it's farily common in Paris and in some parts of Europe. Ours hung in the terrace overlooking the courtyard. In the winter we used the drying rack inside the house, but in the summer these are perfect. Dutch Airer: A Beautiful, Space Saving Alternative to Air Drying |

i wouldn't knock down the wall, one extra room can't hurt. you can turn the wall facing the great room into a glass sliding door. it can be your library, TV room and a guest room when the need arises. What To Do With Awkward Den Space? Good Question |

I voted Modernist, but any style with big windows that will let the breeze in would win my heart. I also love balconies or porches, here in the tropics I could spend hours in them. What's Your Dream Home Style? |
