No one in Kentucky would call herself a midwesterner. It's culturally southern, and we identify as such. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Roundup: Handmade Cards For Impromptu Occasions |

I so wish I wanted to live in a group house. Theoretically, I love the idea of it....community and shared resources and all. But I'm not gonna pretend I'd ever want to do it. Apartment Therapy DC | Survey: Would You Live in a Group House? |

I have the Ektorp and it's fine...comfortable enough and looks nice in my space. Honestly, though, if you can afford more, I'd invest in a better-than-Ikea sofa. I love the Bemz slipcovers ,but they're kind of pricey to go on such low/mid-quality sofas. For the price of a sofa and a Bemz, you could buy yourself a much nicer sofa. I have to agree. These picks are beautiful, but I'm afraid they don't represent the AT community. To me, AT speaks to an affordable and eminently "doable" style of design, and a 3500 dollar bike and 12,000 bike belong just don't cut it. This is so pretty, but I think for it to really work you'd have to own clothes only in white, ecru, and eggshell. Oh, and maybe beige. :) Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Yet Another DIY Closet: Chain Branch Hangers |

I say proceed with caution. There are a lot of questions to ask: such as who's providing the leadership, a local or some Western foreigner who decides he's the expert? Are the people of the area genuinely asking for help, and will it really benefit them in the long run, or does the project simply succeed in giving you a good vacation? Does the program help participants to truly learn from a culture, or does it perpetrate the notion we have of ourselves as blessed, benevolent souls who have everything to give and nothing to learn from those poor, helpless third world citizens? And finally, if you're really in it for the right reasons, would it be better to stay at home and work on the conditions that probably made those countries so impoverished in the first place: neoliberal globalization, the World Bank, overconsumption? I agree with the above posters: the blog was thouroughly disappointing. Remember when MSL first cancelled Blueprint, they pitched Bluelines as a really fabulous replacement. But the blog rarely had that signature and unique Blueprint look...it was just another mediocre blog. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Goodbye Bluelines |

I just bought LeScrub and it works great on soap scum and bathtub rings. I was dangerously close to buying a bottle of the old reliable Scrubbing Bubbles, but I think Le Scrub works just as well. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Simple Green: Non Toxic Bathroom Cleaners |

Every time I see one of those vintage cane chairs (like the blue one listed above) on Craigslist, I cringe! Those things abound at thrift stores, usually for ten or fifteen bucks, yet people list them for 100 dollars on CL? Illusions of grandeur! I agree with Monica, and I did the same thing in my bedroom. I hung the rod almost at the ceiling and have sheers that stay closed most of the time, softening the appearance of the 12 inches of wall between the rod and window. On the occasions that the sheers are open all the way, I guess it looks a little funny, but whatever...apartments aren't perfect.
