We stayed here while attending some of the Palm Springs Modernism Week events. it was quite lovely and we enjoyed the bright splashes of color.

Utterly ridiculous. Seriously AT what is going on with these posts? This assumes someone has not only closet space to waste but also wants to display the contents of said closet with these awful pieces! Designers must be getting bored out of their minds.

I was really trying to put off the idea that AT posts were going downhill but this post confirms it. It's time to find another blog. Maybe your writers have exhausted all the good ideas because this was complete rubbish. I agree with james.

I think it's this desk, the Sungkai Sawhorse Worktable from West Elm http://gearpatrol.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/west-elm-sungkai-sawhorse-worktable.jpg

Looks discontinued though.

All of the art you see there is Dee's original work. I actually own several pieces and have known her for years. Her loft is a working studio so I like the fact that it's not a "staged loft" made to look too minimal and that you do see the boxes of art supplies or whatever. I think the building is called the Cotton Mill unless I'm mistaken and it houses a lot of creative types.

Okay guys these are just ugly. Not a good look for this blog or in general.

My best friend has very well documented synesthesia and she is both a visual artist and graphic designer. Photos of her home, rather her massive loft/studio are full of color. The unique thing is, her synesthesia is grapheme-synesthesia where colors are matched to specific letters and numbers.

I recently attended a talk she gave of what life was like as a designer with this condition and it was amazing to see how deeply in love with color she is. Here is an article on her and some cool links:

I really wish there was a bit more originality to this home in terms of the design pieces. They're all catalogue bought pieces from DWR and even CB2. I know the owner is a designer but show us something a bit off center and quirky? It's pretty but that's about all I can say.

I think when people say orange and blue that it means variations on the shades therein. To me Orange and Blue are many a college sports team but when I think orange and blue I think turquoise or robin's egg blue with a much more golden orange.

I love this orange and blue combo

and the same photo owner has an amazing blog with serious overtones of orange and blue.

It's nice. I'm not sure why this doesn't move me more. I applaud her design efforts but for some reason I feel like the kitchen will appear dated after awhile. Does anyone else feel that way when they see so much exposed wood? It brings back memories of wood paneling and the hype it used to have. Hmmm still undecided I guess.

The panel on the right reminds me of a series of paintings I saw called pea pods. They'd go well together.

A friend of mine found the answer to the source of this lamp. It's called The Beep and can be found at the Conran Shop UK. Or at least you could in 2006.

I agree that these are just way dated. Also, I'm sure if you haven't gotten tired of stabbing yourself on the antlers then you'd surely be angry once they broke off. Useless product in my mind.

Since this is the local SF AT I highly recommend local SF artist and abstract minimalist painter Dee Adams of www.deedee914.com She can easily do a custom piece I'm sure as she did one for us here in NY for the spot above our fireplace. The work is stunning and a great investment.

I'd recommend Mint's roof deck. Small but a decent view.
