Roku will only stream Hulu Plus, not the standard Hulu content. Roku is awesome, but not that awesome.

Just thought this was pretty funny considering the price and color. http://www.walmart.com/ip/20551594?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227015159421&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=17426420590&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem

Just so everyone's clear, there's a difference between White Oak and white Oak. There's the species of White Oak which has been used for wood flooring for hundreds of years, it has a natural, neutral brown color. http://images.infradapt.net/images/AMW-7in-Rustic-RiftSawn-sm.jpg
Then there's the style of staining wood floor a variety of white or grey colors as seen in the above article.
Just trying to help. I'm picturing a state of confusion if someone went to a flooring contractor asking for a white oak floor.

This sort of thing kind of hurts my brain. While I admit the brilliance of creating such a device, isn't it just working backwards? Sort of like converting your high quality mp3s or CDs to a cassette tape? It's not like there aren't keyboards already available. If you need to type that much, maybe the iPad isn't the right device for you?

Have you tried moving your gear under the window? I can't tell just how low it sits but it could fit your music stuff. Where it is now in the other corner is probably your best bet for the TV. Finding a cabinet on the cheap to fit it in may not be easy though. At the least I'd say move it up onto the wall and find a cabinet of at least the same width to fit under it. Angling them out of the corner would probably look best. The coffee table looks really cool but yeah, I'd go for a smaller one to open the room up in light of the big tv, couches and gear setup.

The Restoration Hardware product page has a close-up of the brackets which shows how they connect to the shelves. You just put screws through them.

I have some walnut planks I've been wondering what to do with. I think I now know.

I need to find your goodwill location Mita, and the one that sold the iPad. Holy Cow, those are sweet grabs.

Are these really our only two options? Being "surrounded by" hard copies or not buy them at all? Come on. Look, I get it. I too have ridden myself of all the plastic cases from CDs and DVDs, but that doesn't mean I don't want the contents. Is it really too confining to put these thin little discs into sleeves and put them in a cabinet? I stream content all the time but there are movies I already own and some I wish to own that I enjoy re-watching. Want to watch Gladiator? Boom. Here it is. Pop it in and enjoy. Or - to bring myself into the 21st century, this Gen-Xer even backed up his movies and CDs to a hard drive that can be shared on a home network. I'm just saying there are more options than to buy Blu-rays OR stream.

Boiling oil from the roof.. duh.
Or a lava moat. Whichever is easier.

Honest question here, does this custom shelving allow enough space for ventilation? It looks too tight to me. (It also looks really good.)

I built my house last year and put this system in. About $20,000 for 2k ft is right on (in Missouri), though it's not the install that adds so much to the cost. The manufacturer adds cost to the unit because they know, and the buyer knows you'll be saving money. We love ours. Works great, and we are saving monthly money. What hasn't been mentioned is the 30% federal tax credit on these systems. (The manufacturers know that too). They are quieter than traditional and there's also no reason you'd need a big house for one, or a big lot. Instead of the long trenches, the loops can also be dug straight down. Thumbs up from me.

Whether the reason is silly or not, her work is awesome. No Photoshop involved, just good ol' freehand. Amazing.
