Interesting. I love board and batten but this seems to go too high up? Something about it looks "off" to me. And the light and airy feel of the wall color and the board and batten does not go with that dark, heavy looking bed.

I agree with erinorea--slightly sand down the drawers so they are not so tight. If I were to paint it, I'd prime with oil-based primer like Kilz then use latex over that. Or, another option--just use spray paint if you've got a steady hand and have some experience painting furniture with it.

I agree amy good house--no way would I want those on my pillow after fan-dusting.

I second the microfiber dusting cloth. I pick these up for super cheap and have them all over the house for cleaning.

Like confounded, I too have painted just about darn near everything but would not even go there with linoleum. I agree with some of the other posts--I'm sure it can be done, there are a lot of great products out there, etc. etc. With that being said. . .I have to agree about the peel and stick tiles. If you just can't live with your linoleum a second longer, I'd check out the peel & stick tiles. And I also agree that I'd put them right over the existing floor. I have done this with one of the bathrooms in my house and have never looked back. I stalked the clearance section and ended up finding tiles for about 48 cents a square foot. Am I in love with my floor? No. But for less than paint, primer, plus all of that sweat equity that I'd rather spend somewhere else, it'll do for now. It's neutral and more importantly, clean. Good luck!

Either all white or white on top/grey on the bottom. I painted mine and have never looked back. Don't worry if you think the white/grey combo will look dated in a few years. If that happens to be the case, you could always paint the bottoms white since an all white kitchen is classic.

I agree about the backsplash though---to me, that is what makes the kitchen look dated even more so than the cabinets. If replacing the backsplash is not in the budget, I personally would paint over the black tiles with tile paint. And I love the idea of incorporating a complimentary color on the island.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I'm honored to be on AT! I wish my pics were a bit better :)

EclecticDs---where are you now and what is your store?

Collin--the fridge was in the garbage and my boyfriend brought it home. We stained the wood panels and then spray painted the rest of it black (it was white). It's a lot newer than the fridge that came with the house!

And cjcis--the beverage bar was a Target find last year. I literally squeezed it into the back seat of my car!
