The Trick to Folding a Fitted Sheet Martha Stewart Living

My best friend from high school had one of these in the 70's from Pier One. Love the look but it wasn't that comfortable. Cannot believe the price now! Am I cheap or just old?

Get the Look: Hanging Chairs

I too had white dreams (still do). Hubby and I went through a pretty horrific year of so many things I can't name. We became renters after 22 years of owning and I was determined to go all white, cream and sisal for a "fresh start" (In my previous home I only had one white walled room). I made slipcovers for all the furniture out of white IKEA bedspreads (love them!) and absolutely love my new space. Then my 26 year old son moved in for a few months. I just can't believe how dirty one person's feet can get! All over the furniture. I had to wash the slipcovers twice a week and demand that he wear socks (which became quite a joke but he did it). Did I mention that I have a black dog that thinks she's a cat? Son moved out last week and the dog likes the bed we bought her. I can't imagine the heartbreak of upholstering in white. Not being able to wash in hot water or bleach would kill me. Not to mention bad memories. Good for you that you ditched the whole thing. Chairs are awesome!!!

These posts make me feel so normal! I have made so many paint mistakes its a joke in the family (and neighborhood). There was the "apple green" I wanted for the bedroom that I saw in a magazine. When you walked down the hallway and the sun (west window) was shining through it looked like a nuclear reactor meltdown. We tried to get used to it but would just lay in bed and laugh at how horrible it was. Two weeks later it became an equally horrible mint green. Then there was the Westwood (a high school in our area - team colors) Orange entryway. I wanted that rich Tuscan (I hate that word now) color. I got basketball orange and it went with absolutely nothing in my house.

The one my husband and I always laugh about is the $40.00 of fabric I bought when we were so broke I should have been buying diapers with it. I agonized over it in the store for two hours. When I got it home it looked like old bed sheets! It was this creeping charlie pattern on white. Since I couldn't take it back I cried a lot. Then I kept trying to use it for different things but it never worked. Finally about 10 years later I gave it away!

I've learned a lot from these mistakes though and make sure I can return things (like rugs, furniture etc...) or make sure I don't spend a lot just in case! I absolutely love Craigslist though for getting rid of things that I get sick of.
