I love the mix of patterns, and it's just enough stuff to be cozy, but not enough to freak you out. Plus, the puggle is awesome.

Springfield, Ohio's fleas and antiques markets are always rated the best in the country, up there with Round Top and Brimfield.

But Mondo designed his Plus fabric for a very specific reason -- to show that he was HIV positive and to document his reaction to it. I'm not sure I would like to look at pluses (or crosses) as "trendy" when I know that Mondo did this to bring attention to HIV.

I'd bet you could just use liquid nails to glue a tile to the bottom, though, then you wouldn't have to mess with cutting the cinderblock, and it might look cleaner. different colored tiles would even look cute. I'd probably still put a piece of plastic inside the hole as a liner.

Did you rearrange that living room again? I can't stand the sofa smooshed into the corner like that. It should be a centerpiece!

The backspash tile is gorgeous! The only thing I would add is hardware for the cabinets. Not expensive, and they would really add to your country esthetic.

The Bill Bryson book, At Home, is really ahistory of the development of the modern house. It's super-interesting, and I highly recommned it!

Lovely and elegant, with just the right mix of modern and rustic for me. I don't care that a lot of the stuff comes from standard sources -- these things are great, that's why they're standard! The only thing I would like is more rugs, to make it cozier.

Oh, and awesomely adorable frenchie!

I can't believe everyone has the IKEA Raskog! I've been trying to get it for months, but it is never in, even when the website says it is. They must be having supply problems with it here in CA. From the reviews, it sounds awesome -- guess I'll keep trying!

I've also seen these old cribs hung on the wall and reused as craft supply holders, also a great idea.

We have the Kivik in the Tuling grey cover, and we love it. I know it's low, but the square armrests are perfect for plates if you're an eating-on-the-sofa person, like my husband. It's true that the back pillows get smooshed, especially because my two dogs love to sit on them to look out the windows. But we haven't had any problems with the slipcovers, and i've had them off to clean several times. It still looks and feels gorgeous after 2 years.

I've been trying to get that Raskog cart from Ikea for weeks. I really want to use it in my study as craft supply storage. They never have it in stock, and if they do, it's gone in a hot second even if I use the alert. I wonder if they are having supply issues with it. Anyone know?

The shelf above the desk is just Ikea brackets with a plain wood plank from the hardware store! I wanted something natural looking, and that did it. The curtains are also Ikea.

The desk and chair are vtg Heywood-Wakefield, gotten for a steal! The green pottery is mostly a mixture of 50's and 60's McCoy and Haeger, but one of the yellowish ones is my prized 40's Rookwood. The big green one in the center and a small one on my desk are Canadian pottery called Blue Mountain that I've never seen in the States. The sewing machine is my grandmother's 1973 Singer -- the one I learned to sew on and later inherited.

Yeah, I'm thinking of repainting the bulletin board frame, it came out a little bright. Back to green? Or maybe a darker purple?

ahilaryb, it is a nice warm white without too much yellow in it. It's Behr's "Parchment."
