My great grandfather was a barber, so I have displayed a few of his tools that he used such as a shaving cup and brush in the display case of my bedroom. Beautiful to everyone, probably not, but definitely meaningful to me. Displaying Unusual Objects in Your Home |

My aunt used to have some brass giraffes and elephants that I loved playing with as a kid. I would love to display them now. I'll have to ask her if she still has them. Brass Animal Figurines: Vintage Style |

@Kiana1002... I am exactly the same. I can't sleep without him and if he's out of town I'm a nervous wreck even though I hate admitting it. What's Your Can't Live Without Item for a Good Night's Sleep? Reader Survey |

My husband and I have had an ikea bed with the cheap slats for the past 2 years. Earlier this year we decided to upgrade our old worn out mattress to a tempurpedic. We couldn't afford to upgrade our bed as well (and I know the cheap slats don't offer great support), so we opted for a 2 inch box spring. Our bed still has the low height that we like, and until we can afford to upgrade our bed to something sturdier, this is definitely doing the trick and we are sleeping much better. I love platform beds and will never buy a regular mattress and box spring set again. Do You Own a Box Spring? Reader Survey |

Could you do concrete floors and then get a large area rug so that you have something soft on your feet around the bed? That way you wouldn't have to worry about matching the wood. I have wall to wall carpet in both bedrooms and the living room in our apartment and I hate it. Carpet or Hardwood in Bedroom? Good Questions |

Beautiful room :) I love your couch! I would do a gallery style arrangement of art on that wall. That way you can get some smaller more affordable pieces of art or order some prints from an online print shop like Society 6. Its not as big of an investment as a large piece of art, and it gives you flexibility to switch out pictures if you get tired of them and want to change things up a bit. I like how clean and peaceful our apartment complex is on the outside. Coming from another complex where people had large dogs and didn't clean up after them, I really appreciate where we are now. Favorite Elements: What Do You Love About Your Home? |

You have created such a charming space. I would have never guessed by the pictures that it is only 800 sq ft. You teak furniture is stunning, and your use of color really makes the place look cheery and welcoming. Great job :) Anne & Jake's Bright Colorful Midwestern Home House Tour |

Lovely space :) In my opinion many loft spaces tend to look empty and cold, but yours looks so warm and welcoming without looking cluttered. It is so spacious and I can tell that you have really put a personal touch on everything. Lynette & Cameron's Two Story Loft House Call |

My cats love our chairs (especially our Poang chair and our Couturier's chair from Restoration Hardware)... all of them. They are not as keen on the couch or bed. They also love the glass top of the dining room table. We have had some minor scratching now and then but are trying to train them not to. The Best Piece Of Furniture According To Your Pets |

My husband and I are in the process of trying to slowly replace our cheap ikea furniture with quality pieces. We are lucky to have some hand me downs from my dad who does fine woodworking and has given us some beautiful tables and cabinets. I recently purchased a chair for my living room at Restoration Hardware for $450. I couldn't believe I was spending so much on one chair... but on the other hand I love it and will have it for years and years to come so I don't mind spending the money. I have also been keeping my eye out for craigslist deals which is hard because I don't have much time to hunt for stuff. I think the hardest part of investing in higher quality pieces is the time it takes to acquire everything you want. I am dying for a new bedroom set and a new dining table and its hard to resist the urge to hit up ikea for instant gratification. Its awful because I realize that with the money I spent on Ikea furniture I could have gotten something much nicer off of craigslist if I had the patience and diligence to search for exactly what I want. These are very good tips. My husband is the type of person who would love to copy the page of a catalog in our home or go to a store and mimic the exact arrangement on the showroom floor. Can anyone comment on the quality of the Petrie sofa? My husband and I will be replacing our couch soon and the Petrie is one of our favorites. On Crate and Barrels website some of the reviews talk about the seats compressing and the buttons poking out and becoming uncomfortable. However, this sofa seems to be a popular choice for people so I am wondering if anyone has anything good to say about it. High/Low: Tufted Sofas & Chairs |

The shades look nice by themselves but I really like the look of curtains. My apartment doesn't get a lot of light and we have curtains on most of the windows. I love white shears, because you can keep them closed, but open the shades behind them and they let a lot of light in while giving you a little privacy. We have our curtains over blinds in the bedroom and it works fine, so I don't think doing curtains over shades would be any different. Should We Hang Curtains In Low Light Rooms? Good Questions |

I love the first picture. The beds on the floor make the ceilings look so much higher and make the cozy space so inviting. The amazing lines of the ceilings in these pics makes me hate my gereric box of a room in my apartment. Dream Spaces: Attics & Vaulted Ceilings |
