Awesome art. Love the different pieces you have that just fit this space perfectly without overwhelming the small space. Like the storage opportunities built in under the bed. I imagine you have an ethnic background. For me, anyway, I understand the importance of these positive and inspiring images being displayed prominantly. For others it is simply extraordinary art.

I've been thinking of how better to organize my office space. Thanks for great ideas.

Corey,

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. At first I thought clutter too. Although I tend to like clutter myself so I have to fight against the urge to keep things all the time. But understanding that you are a mature resident, it makes sense that you would have this much stuff and it makes sense to you and you can navigate around in it. Younger folks are more concerned with the appearance of self and surroundings whereas mature people just wanna be comfortable and tend to care not as much about what others think. Paid dues in life already.

Also love the fact that you say, "They should design sustainable homes for older people instead of putting them in "OLD FOLKS HOMES". Excellent way to put it.

Love this! Where did you get the comforter? Looking for something similar. Great pieces for small space. Very well done and love the paint and ceiling as well.

I am just now realizing it's a repeating shape. I do recall seeing it and thinking it looked like a dinosaur foot print, only less rigid. It also reminded me of the word beginning - like a blob of clay that you can create a general shape and mold it into whatever you want. Much like the apartments and dwellings featured on this website. Thanks for the story.

Pastel colors definitely a yes. It's a very calming pallet. Not loud or yelling color when you walk in the door. For folks who deal with bombastic work environments, challenging commutes, and boisterous offices, the color-therapy this calming approach offers is appealing. Combines pastels with shades of gray and silver accents, voila!

It's something neat. Like a neat concept on the red carpet of a great fashion show. But I'm not sure that it actually translates to a piece I'd want to live with everyday for a long period of time. Maybe not a rug for a main room but maybe for a study. Better yet. I would much more appreciate it on a wall with a grouping of accessories in the same main color or color group.

I've had several issues where I'm currently living. I don't want the expense of moving but it may be the best in the long run. I like the cottage but the Landlord/Property Manager hasn't fixed some important things or slow when they do. I should have run away when I learned he did most of the reno himself. We'll see. The issues are manageable and the rent is cheaper...for now I'll deal. But I've got my eye open.

Lovely!!! Excellent Reno! I tackled a completely paneled house years ago. Covering panels ain't easy. But it can be done with marvelous results. This room is now warm and inviting and you aren't distracted or engrossed with paneled walls. You can actually enjoy this warm room!

Before & After: An Elegant Bedroom Redo Fixing It Fancy

I've lived with two boyfriends. My first solitude lasted for nearly 20 years. Then I recently became single again and I must say it was difficult at first but I have really delved into being on my own. Decorating without compromised and I realized I was co-habiting in my bedroom and watching tv shows I would not normally watch just for him...

My space seems to have new meaning since becoming single again. I feel more creative and there are many times I say, after listening to an alarm clock go off for an hour for 6 months, having to constantly remind someone to scrub down before coming to bed because I have allergies, and feeling obligated to cook every night. I relish being on my own.

I'm going to enjoy yard work of a very large yard. And it would be nice to curl up with a companion for a movie on the couch. But the cons with the last guy outweighed the pros.

Happy Single

Some of these comments have been a little harsh. Something else is afoot here. It's a cute studio. I would love to see pics of some of YOUR homes...

I really love the opportunity to peek inside these author's most intimate quarters...the birthplace of many dreams, much thinking and the words we have come to treasure.

Such a cute Studio! Would love to have this if I had to settle for less square footage. A studio is really all you need and the bathroom and gallery kitchen are just enough. She knows how to mix large and small to make everything fit.

I just ran across a cowhide and wondered how appropriate it would be since I probably can't get my hands on a zebra hide that's affordable and guilt-free.

But it actually works nicely in this space. I love, love, love all the knick knacks! Coming home to treasures you enjoy and making them part of the decorating is what it's all about. Yes. I respect clean, uncluttered lines. But in an age where unimaginative staging has run amok, I love this personalization. It's exactly what you'll find in my cottage.

Come home, see things dear to you that make you happen and appropriately blend in with your lifestyle and decorating choices.

Awesomeness! My friends are scattered as I live in a city in TN. But I have been working on my cottage, with the help of ideas from AT, on creating an inviting space. I'm an introvert at times so it's a challenge but just because I live in a cottage doesn't mean I have to be a spinster!

Looking forward to communal feasting and socializing!

btw, love the Prozac "candy dish" -- funny but also a sad commentary on our society's relationship with prescription pills. Like pieces, even accessories, that make a statement.

Although the purple lamp is not my taste, I can appreciate it's synthetic cuteness and size for a small table.

Never been impressed with IKEA furniture other than they know how to create the right size/dimensions for furniture for small spaces in fadish styles. The prices are also disappointing. But as long as there are people out there who will buy it at that price...

I'm a fan of french provincial. I adore tufted furniture and french prov-inspired reproduction. Of course, in taste, tufted should not be in every piece in a room lay-out. Readers who like AT's leaning towards Mid-Century decorating will find these pieces, well, disturbing and obtuse. LOL!

That chair is a masterpiece. Too much in my opinion for everyday living. Not sure that I could come home year after year seeing that piece. But if I had a large house or loft, it would be a superb have-to-have conversation centerpiece.
