miele is amazing. I used to replace vacuums regularly as I killed them constantly with my long hair (I'm a shedder). My miele's lasted me many years already and still works as new. Completely worth the investment imo.

I'm so sorry. I completely understand what you mean. It sounds so cliche, but you really do feel so violated knowing that some stranger was in your house going through your stuff. All I can say is that it will eventually pass. Getting an alarm system might help speed up the process though :o)

ooh, slick! This is how I covered my thermostat, which unfortunately is smack dab in the middle of a large wall.

I just glued some wooden dowels to the back of a plaque mounted poster and hung it from the top.

I bought a really, really nice one at home sense for about $40. It's painted wood and great quality. Love it above my bed! so if you're looking for one, just wait till you find a deal, they're out there.

anyone have any idea what the chair is in the first pic? looks great and like it may just be ergonomic...?

I have some similar to the C&B. No mildew issues as it's made of something that's mildew resistant. I just can't stand the look of regular, towel like bath mats. Have never found one I didn't hate :o\ but maybe someone here has recs for ones that are cute and unfussy?

@ec05 I want one for my kitchen, to hang on our chalkboard wall, and I'd keep a couple of pieces of chalk and the eraser on it most of the time. Love and am so getting one once our kitchen's done!

I am so glad they re-designed that first ikea one. I bought one and returned because it was sooo droopy! it would not stay up. When I was at ikea last I noticed they didn't droop at all so I repurchased and am really glad I did. Love it. Granted, it's just for my home office so I don't knit by it or anything...

and I should add, if you're into having your home pristine, this isn't for you. It's definitely sort of a messy look, but it totally works for our messy family :o)

fyi - I have done this. It works well, HOWEVER, I would highly recommend making a water/grout slurry and adding that to the paint (assuming you're using latex - I did). I got the brilliant idea to have my paint guy mix in my grout and by the time I got it home, it was a huge horrible clump.
