480 sq ft of love and cozy. I like the little spaces you created throughout the entire place for the both of you - no small feat for sure. I looked at the pics several times and had to smile because it reminded me of when I became a single parent with a full-time job and trying to maintain a semblance of neatness in a small space. What is most important is the happiness and love the two of you share.
I am looking forward to pics of your new digs.
Maxwell, I promise you, it gets better mentally, emotionally and physically.

Unbelievable transformation. I have a personal slant towards Eastern influence as well (religion and decor), but this stunning home has so much more of other style and done so cohesively and intelligently. Makes me want to move back to Brooklyn and beg Kathleen to let me be her tenant.

Took a deep calming breath and made my list. I'll be moving in August, so my list is primarily made up of what to donate, toss, recycle while making my 650 sq ft apt clean and comfy in the meantime. Less stuff to move when I go.
So I shop on-line quite a bit (no car, physical limitations). Amazon had beaded, bamboo, cloth, etc. closet "doors" and many are fun and funky. I just bought a couple of scarf organizers from them as well. The Container Store has neat stuff too. Both sites have reasonably priced items.
@mandz2, been there, so I am sympathetic. May I suggest decluttering a manageable, small area of each of your rooms daily. Perhaps you can stretch the January to February, March or beyond so that within a few months you have followed the January plan. DON'T STRESS. That will be your biggest deterrent to not accomplishing your goals. When the clutter is gone, you can really clean and decorate as you want. YOU CAN DO IT! Your place will look amazing, and you will be proud of what you did.
Wishing everyone well, and remember Janel's words,
"So, don't skimp on your list - make it complete and think of it as a roadmap of projects you can tackle throughout the year, but know that you'll only be responsible for doing one this January."

If this were my home, I would be doing the same thing. Standing outside and looking at it with love and gratitude. There are so many elements that I love about this place and kudos to your architect and your own personal style. The wood burning and kitchen stoves, those beautiful floors, the nooks and crannies, the light - so beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. So happy for you!!!

Kitchen number four is so beautifully done. Grey is such a versatile color to design monochromatic or use pops of color.

While not a fan of pink anything, I say go for what speaks to your heart and makes you happy. Slipcovers for a temporary or permanent solution are an option should you tire of the color. Slide 3 is pink more modern imo. Slide 4 more country-style imo. The NYT link (thanks for that GreenHeronFarm) shows more euro-style imo.
But think of this scenario...in two years from now, you have a totally rotten day. When you get home and open your door, will your couch seem like an oasis? Just a suggestion and something to think about should you choose to do so.
Best of luck and happiness with your decision,

Didn't know where to put my eyes first with each picture I viewed...and mean it as a compliment. So much fun to see. I am a huge fan of organic elements, and you created a great mix of them among the vintage and modern pieces. Well done guys!!!

This place is so much damn fun to view. Is that a disco ball next to the yellow chair in the dining room...lol. Great mix of colors, furniture styles and awesome collections. Wish I could come over and have a glass of that wine you having sitting on the kitchen counter. So very, very well done.
P.S. As far as the bed against the window, in my opinion, great position from which to view the backyard and the weather and have the sun behind you.

So colorful. Makes me wish my landlord would at the very least allow me to paint an accent color on a wall. And how weird is this ... your TV stand looks very much like the one I sold about 10 years ago when I was moving. I live in Belmont. Would be funny if it were. Happy times to all of you in this joyful home you have created.

@ RSR: Thanks for your posting. You saved me from typing the exact words you used about Christopher's apartment. I apply the same principles as you for changing tastes and outgrowing items.

Hi Christopher: Toured your apartment several times, and loved each "click." Years ago, I lived on Dolores Street in the Mission District. Great apartment with great architectural detail. I feel homesick!!! The wall colors you chose for each room are making me think. A lover of nature, especially trees and birds, made me feel at home in your place. We might have been in a tug-of-war over the owl table if I were still living in SF!!! Happy times to your and your bird friends in this lovely home.

Never been impressed by Novogratz and even less so now. Looks like a dorm room suite.
The U.S. flag as window treatment is, in my opinion, disrespectful. As a former New Yorker and U.S. citizen, post 9-11, I wanted to hang the flag 24-7 until a neighbor and veteran told me to check out the proper way to display the flag. Here is the link:
http://www.usa-flag-site.org/etiquette.shtml. Learned quite a bit, apologized to the neighbor for my ignorance and started hanging the flag properly.
Oh, and yes, I do not only "worry about important things," but put my American butt in gear and so something about various causes.

Converted warehouse apartment with tall ceilings and fabulous windows + Jeannette's style and possessions = one terrific and interesting and yes, curious, space. Jeannette, were you not hindered by this apartment being a rental, I can only imagine how even more terrific you would make it. Your place is the curious, comfortable art project you intended it to be, but I would also add romantic and heartfelt. Having pieces of your grandparents' furniture makes it all the more special. YAY for you!

So personal, so stylish, so family. I enjoyed reading about how you created and furnished this 700 square foot masterpiece. Love the terrace, love the brick wall and especially "first instinct was fabric-based." Ahhh, DeKalb Avenue - how I miss my Brooklyn roots! I will be referring to this tour for great ideas about spacing and editing my possessions as I continue to empty-nest. Kudos and happiness to you in your fab apartment.

Very cozy home that reflects southern charm. So much to look at and admire. Went right to the tour and didn't expect the wood paneling and said "wow" out loud to myself. What a way to deal with wood paneling. Bravo!

Ditto what "Patrick (The Other One)" said in his first "OYYYYY" post. This is the very lovely and sophisticated home of a very elegant woman, designed for the way SHE lives. What I enjoy most about AT is viewing people's homes that have styles unlike my own. I respect the difference. That said, thanks for letting us view your home, Crystal. I envy the kitchen, especially. Fantastic flow of colors. Industrial and feminine. Wishing you many years of happiness in your lovely home.
P.S. I am in my 60s. The places I lived in over the years reflected my life changes. I am an empty-nester living on my own now...gone are the strewn toys of my son, the shared styles of my 2 exes. Might find those toys back again when I am blessed with grandchildren. My places reflect ME, the way I live at a given moment, just as Crystal's place reflects HER.
P.S.S. Oh yeah, those legs of Crystal too!!!
