Just a quick note on the "before" - the piece is actually 95% particle board with thin wood veneer; no 'real' wood here :( otherwise, we would have seriously considered a restoration job!
To Signe: we used Valspar primer, and Olympic Enamels (high-gloss), which we picked up at Lowe's (by Fairfield Commons; yay Dayton :) )
