Totally disagree on the dog stuff! I always appreciate people who actually think that I have a couple of furballs floating and it keeps them busy! One being special needs and super scared of everything, it makes it easier for him to get to know the guests... just don't bring stinky dog bones or treats... milkbones are just fine.

Please don't bring something you expect to use that evening... like 4 Christmas themed place mats to a dinner for 12 on Christmas Eve... or unsolicited-half-created dessert that requires time in my very small oven to cook while making dinner.

2 adults, 2 nonshedding furballs.
1400 sqft house just outside of Philly (Jersey Side).

I dust when I see it on the tv stand. I don't collect nick-knacks so it really doesn't take too much to wipe down a few pieces of furniture. Maybe every 1 1/2 week or so...

Especially before parties/company.

Ok, clearly this is going to be off the comments (especially from reading the last few - when did AT become a rant?)... but do you have ideas for housewarming gifts that can be packed to take on a plane with you? Size and weight matters, but I would rather not get them a gift card or a bottle of wine (mostly because wine no longer seems 'special' anymore... we give wine for everything).

We do it, and love it! We hung the curtains a bit wider to hide the slightly off center of our windows. Then centered the bed. It's great, especially now when you never know if its going to be cold or warm enough to open the window at night ;-)

Oh and after looking at the blog, maybe some paint to warm up the room... greens? Maybe a really warm olive?

Maybe continue the wood up to the ceiling, and put in one of those cool wood rugs in side the shower (or even stones) - something to even out the weight of the top wood. Oh, and ditch the shower head, something big, craftsmen styled, and def oiled bronze ish coloring. I dig the start though... Just needs a bit more natualish materials to warm it up.

Over the summer, my fiance and I went out to Indiana to visit/meet his extended family. I have an iPhone (and recently launched a major website at work, so had to check in), but I tried to limit the iPhone to just work email and setting visits/tours up or so... I was without my computer (web designer/developer) for an entire week... and no TV (which was nice), so I read an entire book while still maintaining conversational level of a recruiter at a fast paced networking function.

But in all honesty, I thought I was going to lose my mind... I felt so out-of-touch with the world... no news, no daily Morning Coffee, no Apartment Therapy - But - no getting sucked into a TV show that really shouldn't suck anyone in... or that look up to notice 3 hrs has passed since you sat down to quickly check your email... guess good and bad...

Yeah... um, If I had that kind of space...I would double my washer and dryer since the man of the house never moves his things through... ever.. But dang that is one boring room!! How about some color on the walls? It reminds me of the art lab i spent most of college, plain, boring, white and random vintage hardware strewn about.

Did the photographer intentionally leave the lights off to photograph the room? Expected more from the Martha!
