I made the Broccoli and Feta pasta last night. It wasn't terrible, but I can't imagine how it could ever be described as "velvety."

I won't knowingly spend more than $9 on a cocktail. If they're that expensive, I'd get a beer.

A lot of times I'll have oatmeal in a coffee mug once I get to work, so quick oats work pretty well for that.

I think chickpeas are a lot easier to get into than other beans and they are so versatile. Frankly, I'd say start out with a name-brand can rather than making your own - why invest all the time with a big batch if you might not love them? And as much as I want the store brand to be as good as some of the others, a lot of times they just aren't.

I'm surprised how well our plastic ones from Ikea have held up. I think I got two sets, so two small and two regular ones, and I use them every day and they work just fine, for a few bucks.

We always used different kinds of bread (Italian, potato, leftover hamburger buns..) that we'd collect for a few weeks and stash in the freezer or in a basket above the fridge, then that morning my mom would spread it out on cookie sheets to dry in the oven and it was my brother's and my job to break it up into pieces in a giant bowl, sitting there in our pajamas. And now we're in our twenties and it's still our favorite part! :)

I think often for electronic invitations, nobody wants to be the first to respond, especially when you can see the entire guest list and see who has rsvp'ed already. You don't want to appear overeager or look like you check your email constantly or be the only one to respond, especially if you're not super close with the host, because it just makes you feel awkward. On the flip side, if you can't see the guest list, you don't want to respond because you don't know who will be there! So then you tend to open the email, check it out, and think, I'll respond later! and end up not doing it. Basically, electronic invitations just suck.
