The landlord may not argue that the upgrade is beautiful but that still doesn't mean she would be okay with it. It might even end up costing her money if she has to later upgrade the rest of suites in the building to match. Painting is one thing, as it's easy to change, but renos like tiling seem like a bit much to undertake without even mentioning it to the LL, much less asking for permission or support.

There's something sorta off about it. It seems impersonal and slightly uncomfortable, but I suppose that's because it's not actually a lived-in space. It kinda looks like a boutique hotel that tries to cater to women by randomly putting up pieces they think they'll like (romantic chandelier! red lips!) without really pulling it all together
