Hi - so this was actually my question, and since I sent it in we've had more time to think it over. We've actually decided to go with exactly what obleak1 suggested - a farm style table paired with fiberglass eiffel shell chairs from Modernica. We found Lorimer Antiques through this site and fell in love with David's tables - the fact that the wood is already distressed seemed to bode well for any future (inevitable) marks. Plus, he has a great extension option - instead of just doing inserts for the table (which we would then have to store), David is going to make a mini-table that matches the main table and can be moved over next to it when we have extra guests. That way we'll still have a functional side table for our living room the rest of the time! Suggestions For Dining Room Table For Six Or More? Good Questions |

we're moving into a new apartment with a similar living room (original fireplace with original mirror) and are facing the same issue. we don't want to take away from the beauty of the fireplace, which is a natural focal point, but are realistic - we want to be able to see the television also. my current plan is to arrange the sofa on a diagonal so that it can face the fireplace on a slight angle but still face a television across the way. perhaps something like that could work if you're open to having your furniture at a diagonal instead of flush to the wall? oh, and i love the idea of using the knit pouf as a footstool - totally stealing that and trying it out as a diy project. i think apt therapy actually posted this a while back, but figured i would add the link here for anyone interested . . . Gavin's Winning Woodsy Nursery Nursery Tour |

How has the glider worked out? I'm looking at some of Monte's and also a couple of Jennifer Delonge's, and while the former are easier to see/try out in person, there's something about the Delonge ones that's really appealing . . . Gavin's Winning Woodsy Nursery Nursery Tour |

Which do you think would create a firmer pouf - filling it with old sheets/comforters/towels or putting an old sheet inside the pouf and then stuffing that with lots of tightly crunched up newspaper? How To: Make Your Own Knitted Pouf |
