I'd say for some of the bigger purchases, wait till the baby comes. You don't know what will feel right as a parent till you're in it (or what your baby's preferences are). We got an expensive stroller before our son was born and then barely used it for the first year as we preferred to use a carrier. By the time we did start using it regularly we found it too heavy to get on and off public transportation (or in and out of the car's trunk) and ended up buying a great inexpensive umbrella stroller. Great ideas. I don't think I have the patience for the masking tape, but the effect is very cool. Love the effect of the black stipe wall decals! I've often wondered how well these look and work in spaces. I've only ever seen kids' versions in person.... Home Projects for Renters: Reversible Wall Decor |

I think I'm going to try this right now with a squeeze of lime on some sourdough toast. I might broil a tomato on the side... My one year old is bound to devour this! Avocado Toast: Simply the Best Breakfast Ever? |

Oh these are so lovely! I'm especially drawn to the charm of the vintage animals and alphabet architecture. It's so important to surround little 'uns with the written word - and their singular characters. In the digital age, it's nice to see words and their parts in print, made into icons and art. These sorts of posters are a favourite shower gift of mine to give. So thanks for highlighting these gems! My colleague just posted a piece on the intersection of design and typography on The Design Tree blog, www.greenteadesign.com/thedesigntree, today for those in the mood for other examples. My son just turned one last week and I have been carrying him using a range of carriers since birth. Last winter I used the mama kangaroo wrap in my M Coat, this year, I'm using the Ergo with the M Coat. Along with my carriers, the M Coat was one of the best purchases I've made as a parent. This down filled super warm winter coat has a removable front panel that is reversible (wear it with the wider side down during pregnancy, wider side up to accomodate a carrier, without the panel for an attractive regular coat). With this coat, last winter my son needed only a sweater and hat over his clothes (the carrier also added a layer). I highly recommend it if you live in a cold climate (I'm in Toronto) and plan on carrying your little one! Keeping an Infant Warm in a Carrier through the Winter Good Questions |
