I LOVE the cheshire grin on the wall! And that bookshelf is perfect.

This is great! I was still digging through boxes in the basement to find our re-usable advent calendar, made out of a mini muffin tin for 24 muffins. I abandoned my efforts the moment I saw this post and we began our Advent Hunt today, with great success. I love that I can plan out one day at a time so easily. Thanks!!

I really like this. It is clean and uncluttered, but still very colorful. I also like that the colors are more naturally inspired and not so artificial as many tend to be. Nice job!

I would totally go with Strider Bikes, if you can find a seller in your area. We introduced these at age 2.5 with both boys. Our now 5 year old learned to ride a two-wheel pedal bike in 10 minutes and skipped training wheels. They cost $100, though... but in my opinion, the lightness and the shape of the frame is definitely worth it.

Check out this family's photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/happyjanssens/collections/72157622958743825/

She has a blog somewhere, too, and might be happy to give you her own advice. I love looking through all of her small-space photos, but the RV takes the cake!

I feel for you, but I think you and your family are embarking on a wonderful adventure with this creative turn. I hope you will consider posting photos of what you come up with. Good luck!

You might also google "messy party" and think about doing a muddy sensory table and giving all guests a little motorcycle toy to go crazy in the mud with. Give parents fair warning, of course!!

Maybe you could expand the theme just a bit. We are having a "racing" themed party next weekend for our soon to be 5 yr old. All guests are going to get a racing number (donated from our local runner's club) to pin on their backs. We've also made a huge collage of all types of racers-- runners, swimmers, race car drivers, motorcross drivers, motorcycles, cycles, etc. Kids can choose to do a time time trial too which ends by running through a crepe paper finish line. We'll also have our homemade hotwheels race ramp set up. But it's a combo birthday with our soon to be 3 yr old, who wants to focus on superheros... so we've got other things going on. Maybe too many other things. :) But I'm milking the double party for as long as I can (their birthdays are 2 days apart.)

I'd like to echo cat's comment- EC, or elimination communication is just about as uncrazy in real life as it sounds crazy in real life. Anyone can do it-- working outside the home or not-- full time part time, you name it. It's a much greener way to approach diapering than disposables or cloth. Visit www.diaperfreebaby.org.

Four year old and two year old boys here in Montana. :) Outside is not enough.

Obstacle courses.

We have a playlist of favorite kids' songs that involve motion. Jim Gill is good for this, among others.

Fanny tag. Put a sock in all players' waistbands, as a tail, and try to get the other person's tail first. Hilarious if you play with the whole family.

Mothering Magazine had an article about doing a full pedicure or footspa with your rambunctious little ones when you (both) need to chill out a bit.

The crib mattress is probably our favorite toy. We have one of the lightweight foam ones, and and we use it as a slide on the couch, or to make forts, or to jump off the loft bed onto...

We are lucky now to have a basement; I brought our outdoor toys in.

Good luck!
