here's one I predict will end: tearing out bathroom cabinets and counters and replacing them with pedestal sinks... peple are going to start wanting that storage back. Same with open shelving in the kitchen. Bring back fuzzy and quiet wall to wall carpets! see, The "trends" determine what kinds of things are available at a reasonable price, so "do what you love" is a bit idealistic... We got a handmade gate-leg table (by an Amish craftsman) that collapses into a 3' table or extends to seat 15 people. Its gorgeous wood and so to live with it every day with small kids we, well, cover it with pretty table cloths... and plastic. You won't find it up on a house tour... Oh, thank goodness! You have saved my faith in home design. I thought I was going to lose my stuff after reading 1. The people who turned their loft into a nursery and put the changing table against the open 2nd story, and 2. The people who wanted to tear off a brand new roof because they didn't like the color.
