It's a big room, but you could do something just as creative in a small room. Creative parents make creative kids who become creative adults who enhance the world. Can't buy that at IKEA.

There is plenty of 2nd hand/vintage/antique furniture in the world at affordable prices - even free. My best pieces came from the dump. Remember, ANY newly made furniture ISN'T green. Period. (Unless of course, it was made locally with reclaimed or waste wood, but then, it likely wouldn't be affordable.)

You just need to keep your eyes peeled, and be patient.

I've made a nice exfoliating soap (if you are so inclined) with old coffee and grinds. It was really nice. Our excess goes into the compost.

I agree with TKPKgirl. I'd love to see AT put out that challenge! This IS viable for the majority, it's only a matter of will.

Love it! Soooo tired of boring, boxy houses. Yes, the earth does keep it insulated.

Sigh. I don't get this trend to paint interesting wood furniture white so it looks like painted particle board. The bed would be fantastic with a new wall colour. There's no more character in the room. Looks like a typical flyer photo.

There are hidden deals in every city. Keep your place but keep your eyes and ears open for something you love, that isn't too much money.

Do you rent? If so, ask the landlord if you can paint the fireplace. If you own, or they say yes, paint the fireplace.
