We just priced building a bed like this. Without the headboard and using pipe and fittings for the legs it will cost $75. Add stain and extra lumber for the headboard and your looking at under $200 if you have tools or can borrow some from friends. Good luck it is very pretty.

First off I puffy heart love your space. The layout is envy worthy. I once found a similar place across from where I work but it didn't work out. Personally I would not make that space the dinner room. Its too closed off and will be underused. Make it a den with a large desk (or the strut table you already love) to work at, a small settee and book shelves. It will be so nice to have a separate space for homework and reading. Tuck a smaller dinning table in the corner of your living space. If you're both students you wont use it nearly as much as a desk.

I would paint the walls and ceiling the same light color. Creamy or ivory lace from SW are both nice. Instead of painting the ceiling Poised Taupe I would paint the wall with the window that color. and put the head of the bed under the window. Swing the table or dresser around to the wall where the bed is now. Nix the floor lamp for one on the dresser and one on a night stand. I really like the taupe you have picked.
