sacha, to be honest, i didn't paint the bit down low by the toilet because i got lazy! :) plus, without having a center point, it would have been really difficult to get the lines straight. in the end, i decided that i didn't mind how it looked without the bottom half filled in. i just moved into an apartment with blue carpeting in the livingroom and i hate it! i got a nearly room-sized sisal area rug and layered my giant flotaki on top. there's still some blue peeking out and i plan to get one more sisal rug to completely hide it but, for now, it's actually not too bad. the focus has been taken off the carpeting and the room looks fresh and modern. if i had the right place, i could definitely see myself doing this. one of my favorite books when i was young was "the house book" a giant interior design book from the 70's, so i have a soft spot for rainbow wall stripes, flokati rugs and conversation pits.
