Relationship advice on a design blog? What's next...Kardashian news? >_<

Might be time to remove AT from my RSS feeds if this is the direction they're heading. Seem to get more actual design over at Young House Love and Manhattan Nest than here lately.

An addendum to my previous comment: Once he saw my pre-planning avoided us getting caught in the zombie hordes roaming around the showroom (which makes me crabby), he thinks it's a great idea.

If we do need to browse the showroom, we try to hit it at off hours. Tuesday or Friday nights after 7pm are the best, in my experience.

Breaking Up In IKEA

My husband used to make fun of my highly detailed lists (complete with names, dimensions, SKU numbers and prices) I would compile before going to Ikea based upon catalog information and/or website information.

Once we get there, I get the first employee near a computer to put together a "pick list" which says where my items are in the warehouse, then we skip the showroom, get our stuff and GTFO.

No arguments until we start assembling! ;-)

I really wish that the availability of products are checked before these articles are posted. The Spacebar has been sold out for MONTHS.

I'm with veslabeachbirl - I just don't use artificial sweeteners.

Once I discovered that I was allergic to artificial sweeteners (cause me a great deal of joint pain and headaches), I cut them all out, cold-turkey. Now, I only use raw sugar in my coffee (when I'm out and about, the stuff I brew myself I drink black) and I don't buy anything with an artificial sweeteners in it.

I think that the Western palette needs to reset; once you cut back on sugar, things seem way too sweet overall.

To add: the placement of the turntable is terrible (to echo Radioriot) for use! Plus, it's at a terrible height if you have pets of any kind (hello cat bed!). Plus, I really hope she just played that record - otherwise the dust that would accumulate on it would be horrible. I know the Ion doesn't have a dust cover, but as others have said, it's a terrible turntable.

Makes me wonder if she loves vinyl or loves the idea of vinyl.

We use a 4x2 Ikea Expedit to hold our vinyl and have the turntable + speakers on top of it (we use the Expedit long side down). Efficient, neat and convenient.

I put my quinoa in a bowl of water, swirl it around and when it's time to drain, I put a paper towel over the lip of the bowl and slowly drain the water out of the bowl. The paper towel keeps the quinoa from escaping and when you're done draining, I whack the towel over the bowl to dislodge any hangers-on.

To cook: Rice cooker. Treat it like brown rice. Add a drizzle of olive oil to the pot before cooking. DONE.

Don't skip the oil. Regardless of what you're using it for after its cooked - you can't taste the oil when it's done - but it keeps it from foaming/boiling over in the cooker.

As soon as Netflix adds the option for subtitles rather than English subs to their streaming anime and foreign film sections, I'll probably drop the DVD option.

But for now, watching those things with subs is a pain worse than death.

To echo other replies: My plan is going up $5. If you can't afford $5 more a month, you should rethink a lot of things relating to your budget. Besides, Comcast was reaming me for $80+ a month for the step above basic cable. F that.

+1 to what jennipearl said.

It will take a lot more time and aggravation to get the soap out of that stone that it would be to just start over. Unless you want soap leeching into your food...

The way I clean my stone is to put it in my sink, at an angle and let hot tap water run over it. I scrape bits off with a plastic scraper and immediately dry it off with lots of paper towels (since there's usually oil to wipe off) and put it back in my oven where it will air dry until its next use. Soap never touches that stone, much like soap never touches my cast iron pan.
