The risom line of chairs came about as a way of reuse of material. Specifically it originally used parachute material left over after WWII ( as I was told when I visited knoll). Therefore I'd try to look elsewhere then classic chair resources. I think seat belt material would look nice as well as a heavier lawn chair webbing -- both of which would come in multiple colors.

if this were called 'Belgian European cooking creme' and someone found it in some boutique you'd all be speaking a different story-- and there would a recipe! I also don't think its condescending marketing - the product is just separating itself from actual cream (and regulatory naming). It's like confusing 'creme fraiche' with actual 'fresh cream' (its direct English translation).

There was one that sold at an auction reciently for a little over 300, and you'd pay about that to have it recovered in fabric... more for leather. It depends how much its actually bothering you but from the pictures it doesn't look too horrible. I don't think you have to worry about destroying an important or expensive piece -- however you would be spending more then its reasonably worth to have it nicely and professionally recovered.
