Many thanks -- first, for the condolences, and second, for the advice and pointers. I'm hopeful there will be even more wise words forthcoming. Florida is a very weird market. There's a constant new supply of high-quality furnishings, because so many old people live there, and a pretty low demand, because most transplants bring their own pieces with them. Plus, as bella1 knows, it's notoriously shady. There's good reason Ft. Lauderdale is known as Ft. Frauderdale. I've found the 1stdibs site difficult to navigate, but I'll take another look this weekend. And I'll get in touch with cityofparis, make use of Kpaige13's and arnold's referrals, and phone the movers who have been suggested. One last thing: The photo you see is half of one room in a four-BR home, all of it similarly designed. From an Italian colored glass fruit chandelier to a pony-hair armchair and ottoman, there is a lot to sell. I mentioned the size of the apartment in an attempt to avert snark, by showing that it's too big for us to clean by ourselves, and to show that it's a good employment opportunity for someone. A Web site devoted to conspicuous consumption is an odd place for class warfare, as goodnightdean keenly intimates. We're looking for a referral, not karma, but much of G's time is taken up by being on call to her patients 24/7, and by looking after her elderly parents, who live nearby and both have Alzheimer's. I appreciate the suggestions and the Domino citation, which I'll research. We have asked friends; this is an extension of that search, so if you have a great housekeeper, we're happy to have a referral. P.S. -- You should absolutely never spray Windex on a computer or TV screen. A Google search will tell you why, but here's what MacRumours.com has to say: Windex has ammonia, along with the majority of other window cleaning products. Amonia can strip off any protective coating that may be on the screen. And paper towels are abrasive. Just use an old-shirt. I was traveling for most of December, so I never got a chance to say thanks to everyone who replied. In the end, yes, we went with the IKEA Billy bookcase unit, and I gave up a little extra book storage in favor of a cleaner look. Did someone mention an extension to the top of the Billy?
