I love potlucks, and I am part of a number of regular potluck groups. When hosting, I always like to have some kind of appetizer on the coffee table (or some other communal space away from the dining room/kitchen table), since sometimes we are waiting a while for everyone to show up.

Also, it's a good idea to somehow communicate what guests will be bringing, for a number of reasons. For guests: in case some guests are food sensitive/have preference, and to just get them excited about it. For you: you will know if five people are hoping to use your oven.

You are missing my favorite line- Better Life cleaning products! Their all-purpose and floor cleaners are truly wonderful, safe, and WORK. I bought my first bottle two years ago and haven't looked back.

Love this space! Could AT do a tutorial on the cork tiles? I would love to do something similar in my rental. Thanks!

One of my favorite dressings these days combines buttermilk with a spoonful of cilantro chutney (from the local world grocery store). Add some fresh lime juice and it is the BEST on spinach and sweet corn salads. And a healthy summer alternative to oil-laden dressings.

I am rather suprised that Goose Island, which was recently purchased by Anheuser Busch, is on the list. Yes, Goose Island puts out really great beers, but with its mass distribution, it is not exactly a local brewery anymore.

That, and what about the St. Louis love? We have more than Anheuser Busch here. Schlafly Beer is celebrating twenty years of great craft brewing, and their market share in the area is going up every year. Add the many microbreweries (hello, Urban Chestnut, my new favorite place) that have been popping up in the area, and St. Louis is a beer Mecca.

Just sayin'. Thanks for the list!

We have a similar set up in our small apartment. We set up a small dining table on the short wall closest to the kitchen, and hung a large paper lantern over it, trying to create a sense of designated space for the dining area. We put our couch on the other short wall, with two chairs in the middle of the room, angled away from the dining area and facing the couch, and an area rug tying it all together. Again, creating two "spaces" in the one room, but keeping it open. We don't watch much television, so ours is just on the side (for you, under the window). Hope this helps!

I also grew up down the street from Straub's, often walking there with my siblings and getting a treat (let's be honest, I still do this sometimes). Straub's still has family charge accounts, and the employees are genuinely helpful and welcoming. I love getting Goshen coffee and Companion baked goods there. Truly a St. Louis treasure, even if it is expensive!
