Mmmm, not like most kid parties I'VE been part of. Most involved forced, planned out activities, and a "let's all sit and watch gifts get opened" etc, etc. Moments of true fun, spaced out between uncomfortable uncertainty over what we should be doing. This sounds like a blast, and my husband wants to steal the bad-ass theme for out little guy's next shin dig :)

This isn't meant in a snarky way, but it's worth pointing out that this is from a show house, not an actual residence. Think "tour of homes" or "home-a-rama"...designers take on a house or a room in a house and decorate the holy heck out of it, and frankly they're more concerned about showing off the latest trend or color or technique than anything else. I've worked on home shows before, and frequently no thought at all is given to the practicality or real-life use for a room. The point here, I think, is to tell people it's ok to look at a goofy, impractical picture and find a color that speaks to you, or a beautiful print, and make it work in your real-life home. Have fun with it :)

K, I'm gonna get crucified for this, but I can see it. Now don't get me wrong - this definitely falls under the catagory of things parents could abuse in a serious way. But my youngest kid loves our iPad and it has saved me more than once! Should your kid be plugged in 24/7? No. But I personally use my stroller for a heck of a lot more than pleasant walks. Like Christmas shopping. or the grocery store. or a soccer game. Things that my 10mos old is over and done with in about 10 minutes. I'm not a techie mom; I cloth diaper, we buy organic and we limit screen time for all of our kids. But used IN MODERATION, this could save your tech and your sanity from time to time. (pretty pricey for the occational convenience, though....)

We painted ours a gloss black...not as lovely as some of the suggestions above, but really cheap! As a quick fix it would be easiest on the budget, and you can always upgrade later. We have an old bungalow, and the black fence is practically invisable against the brick/stucco. Just use a roller & brush (not spray) - takes a while, but doesn't waste all that paint!

No reason to be embarrassed!!! You SHOULD fall in love with things and just make them work, especially with apartment living. The next place may be perfect for it, or you may someday end up in a house with plenty of room - either way, you'll always have an amazingly cool piece that is all you. I dig the place, and hope your next home is just as cool!

Really lovely, though definitely not the lifestyle everyone could live. As a (potential) clarification for folks confused on the layout...looks like the airstream itself is a living/sleeping/office area and the kitchen/dining is housed in the "shed" mentioned in the post - the shed is just joined to the outside of the airstream. Anyway, I think it looks like a beautiful life, and I wish them much happiness :)

My gram knew Charlie Harper, and received cards from him until his death. We have oodles of lovely posters of his work, some signed and some not, and I love them all. I grew up thinking how cool it was that he could take basic, simple shapes and create nature the way he did!

N'awlins!!!!! Within the states, it can't be beat. Crawfish Madeline, po' boys, beignet...I've never had a bad meal there. Go during Jazz Fest (or any other "fest" for that matter, those people will celebrate anything...) and get amazing tastes of everything. My hubby's from NOLA, and we love going back :)

This doesn't offer a new suggestion, but I've made the artichoke baragoule pictured above multiple times for my family. Everyone loves it, with or without meat! We usually serve it over pasta; if you have a veggi/omni mix coming, I'd maybe offer some shredded roast chicken as a mix-in - it's delish!
