I have similar cabinets in my kitchen with pink countertops. I went with a dark red theme in the kitchen which ended up making the pink look more like a beige than a pink. Sometimes, your best bet is to try to work with the colors rather than against them. I would try to highlight the blue of the countertops rather than hiding them. Get a large rag rug in a complementary blue or teal. Take the cabinet doors off to reduce the amount of melamine and go with open shelving. Maybe put a dark teal paper in the back of the cabinets?

Would you consider aluminum? If looks are important, a vintage Wagner Ware dutch oven is a thing of beauty. The listing below isn't mine... I just think it's a beautiful piece of cookware.

I've been thinking about this issue lately, but haven't made the shift to get rid of the trash bags. I do think I could put the non-recyclable trash right into the trash bin and just commit to rinsing it out more frequently.

I'm going to have to disagree with you about buying cuts of meat without the bone though... lots of flavor comes from those bones!

Also, please don't give the beef bones you use to make stock to your neighbor's dog. Cooked bones can splinter. Dogs should really only be given uncooked bones.

You're definitely not alone. I can't afford a Dyson, and it may be that the better vacuums are built so that dumping the canister is less of an issue. But the less expensive bagless vacuum I bought was a nightmare to empty. I ended up returning it and buying a vacuum cleaner that uses bags.

How completely and totally absurd. Honestly, I think they've got a lot of nerve to claim that they somehow created the urban homesteading movement. And Freedom Garden?!? Are they going to go back in time and trademark Victory Garden too? Ridiculous.

Snow removal etiquette means you wave at the plow guy who has been out there for many, many consecutive hours trying to clear the streets so you can get out of your neighborhood.

One tip you may find that helps for the next snow storm...

The snowplow always goes down the same side of the street. Facing your house, pile up the snow from your driveway on the left of your driveway where it will be pushed away. If you leave a large pile on the right, it will inevitably end up in your driveway.

My dog LOVES the vacuum. I've run the vacuum over him lightly since he was a pup. I have a hard time with him getting underfoot when I vacuum because he is impatient and wants me to vacuum him first. Not sure this would convince me to buy a vacuum, but it's an interesting idea.
